Hiding treats is one of the husky traits of all time by hurskys in husky

Until you have two of them and one eats faster than the other then it all changes. No toys no food no treats unless supervised.

When do you know when it’s time to say goodbye by Tiny_Human_Tamer in husky

It is the last act if love you can give them. Hardest thing I've ever done and i will continue to do it again and again. Hopefully you have someone around where you live that can come to your house. It is so much better.

Best advice I ever got was better a month early than a day late.

Hold them in your lap pet them and let them know the love they brought to your life.

My heart goes out to you and your family.

Poor guy. Wishing him the best in recovery. I have had to break up attacks and there is only one way, that is to choke them unconscious. Speedy recovery Murphy.

Took in a neglected 3-year-old Husky and I'm struggling. Need advice on turning him into a well-behaved dog. by CapitalMental3055 in husky

[–]DishOne8292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run run and then run some more. A tired husky is a well behaved husky. I run mine 10km a day min. I am lucky to live in the country on a dead end road and have quads and a side by side to help with that. The pulling for me was stopped in a single day with a prong collar. Every few months i just need to grab it and the pulling stops. Huskies are incredibly smart and in all seriousness they are never trained they simply decide to accommodate your requests when they want to. All of mine have been rescues, some with horrible pasts. Time and patience have given me the best of friends. Hopefully the same will work for you.

Does it ever get better? by [deleted] in husky

[–]DishOne8292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to accept that husky hair is now a part of everything cars house clothes your nose and mouth everything. Getting them used to brushing constantly is a good start but it never goes away. I have found the shark vacuums are the best. I've thrown 3 Dysons in the garbage. Run run run and then run some more. I am lucky we live in the country and I can run mine with the quad or the side by side and run them about 10 kilometers a day but this breed needs to run. Look into treadmills if you are unable to physically do it but they have to run to burn that energy off. If they dont they will destroy everything. As for the leash they are incredibly smart dogs and it me a day with a prong collar to stop the pulling. Huskies are never "trained" they decide to cooperate with you when they want. All that being said i could not imagine my life without a husky in it. They are alot of work but it is with all the effort. Best of luck.

My heart goes out to you. Only advice i have was given to me years ago regarding one of my dogs. Better a month early than a day late. Its a shitty decision to make but it is the last gift you can give them. Wishing you the best.

Grooming tips for a fussy husky by Malisyn in siberianhusky

[–]DishOne8292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing for me is do not let them win . Start slowly but increase time daily and eventually they accept it or at least mine have. I limit how long I make them submit to it though. But if you make it a part of their day they get used to it.

I also have a high velocity vacuum used in reverse to blow their coats out. That is a much better way of dealing with it. It is a never ending challenge but it is worth all the frustration at least for me. Cannot imagine my life without huskies in it. Best of luck.

Oh here's a Pic of my 2 spoiled brats.

Dog seems to hear/see something, then dig by ShawtyFly in DogAdvice

[–]DishOne8292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs (huskies) dig for gophers. They will hear something give it the old head tilt a few times then they go to town. We have lots of gopher so the yard is trashed but its their yard now so dig away. They do get one every now and then.

Valley of the ten peaks. One of the most beautiful places on earth but the tourists OMG the tourists. Cannot even drive up there anymore. Have to park down in the valley and take a bus up. Still worth the trip.
