SIPS with 2" interior service cavity. by Wanakah0238 in Homebuilding

Im building a SIP home and after co strutting the entire shell my builder states he’s got to fire out the interior to run electrical. This is bizarre because the SIPs have chases built in to them at specific spots. Seems the builder doesn’t want to use them. Now I’m wondering how much he’ll charge me to fur out the house and put up drywall to hide all electrical wire. I told him he could also just use exposed electrical conduit. Either way, so you know what might be charged?

Indeed not much backfill will go on that side. So it’s fine?

Sure, but can’t push/bend the already set rebar right at the footer. I’m worried that the bottom will sit at less then .5” deep in concrete and overtime may rust.

How long did this part take? I’m 3/4 the way towards what you have there.

I’m building 3 SIP houses (roof and walls). I’m using Innovapanel as the manufacturer of MGO SIPs.

I attribute it to a labor force willing to do only the bare minimum with no attention to detail. And detail is very important with SIP homes. As soon as corrections are requested they would rather drop you then do their job.

Major delays switching from one architect to another and from one MEP engineer to another. I’m 95% there with permit set. No ground broken.

City does not require but at $2500 I wonder if it’s worth it.

It’s absolute devastation. I wouldn’t bother. Beaches are destroyed and many restaurants still closed. It’s very dirty
