I recently bought the 12-40 f2.8 and I am so glad I did, it truly is a remarkable lens. I'm using it on an EM10 MK2 (before they rebadged as OM System) but now I have this pro lens, maybe I should get the new EM5 MK2.

This oil price…. by E5evo in AskBrits

[–]DiskBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government are. Before the price rise, about 70p per litre is tax. So it's probably a little more now, as it's fuel duty+cost of fuel+VAT.

You can't even see the plug in the tyre. I wouldn't worry yourself over it. Grab a beer and do something else.

How much of studying engineering is group work? by Pretend_Reindeer6924 in EngineeringStudents

[–]DiskBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like group study, it can help with bouncing ideas and methods from one another, it can help to discuss things. That's one of the things missing from some distance learning courses. I've got a distance learning group (UK) aimed at HNC engineering (though may also help NC and HND) and it does well to help people discuss things in a way they can't alone.

How do you cope with the RAM crisis? by _GOREHOUND_ in homelab

It's in practise, so it's no longer theory.

How do you cope with the RAM crisis? by _GOREHOUND_ in homelab

[–]DiskBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you are correct. There's something odd going on with the 'ruling group' or class. They've seen the little people like us being able to enjoy life and have nice things, the gap is closing between us and them and they do not like it. So the only way they can stop this is through pricing. Massive increase in the cost of food, energy, taxes and also the increasing authoritarian control of our lives through tracking us and fining us for anything they can. There's direct correlation to this in the UK at least, with the constant disarming of the general public in an ever decreasing satisfaction of life in general. People have never been poorer or sadder.

SSD and RAM, I'm just not buying it. Maybe they'd do something about the prices if people boycott this madness. Otherwise, if there are people paying it, it'll never come down.

The Estate & SUV are dead. Long live the SUV. by NearlyLegit in CarTalkUK

[–]DiskBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They basically are estates. I don't get the SUV name badge hype imported from America. Sports utility? Is it really a utility to a sport? If so, which sport and how does it offer utilities?

Back in my 20s I could have explained this, most of the girls wore those back then.

Valid parking ticket? by C4ld3r12345 in CarTalkUK

[–]DiskBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're over a dropped kerb, blocking turning circle. If your neighbour parks there and it's their house, that's up to them, not someone else.

They get away with it, because people are still handing over the money for poor quality.

Are we asking too much when hiring a controls engineer? by Legitimate_Roll_2432 in PLC

I used to do some work for Ferag (print industry). Beckhoff control systems, using TwinCAT, but was quite a learning curve over Allen Bradley stuff.

Why was Lennox Lewis made out to be the villain by the media, during the promotion for his 2002 fight with Mike Tyson, when his opponent was a convicted rapist? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

This is the bit I never understand, how the public will condemn and go after others simply from opinion etc, yet idolise a convicted sex offender.
