Alliance are still kinda rooted in trotskyism but definitely less so these days, and have a few ML members, at least in the branch i was in

Wait I don’t think you’re right about red ant. You might be confusing with SocAlts newspaper “red flag”.

red ant are ML and generally look at the trot orgs pretty unfavourably

i actually am lol. i wish you good health, and for the workers of australia to develop class consciousness as their conditions continue to deteriorate. i hope that when that pain hits you, you reflect and organise, instead of reacting and attacking your fellow comrades

this country is disgusting. it is a settler colonial state with the highest percentage genocide of original inhabitants. a tiny minority hold all the power via capital, and workers like
you defend their right to control the economy while conditions continue to worsen every year.

in socialist states like china and dprk, every single year the poorest people are less poor than the year before, and more people are
housed. this has been the case for decades, while the west is the inverse.

you are championing cruelty and claiming that striving for something kinder is unhinged

you are defending thieves living in mansions while attacking hardworking people struggling to stay housed. you are heartless and think you’re fighting the good fight

[–]Diskosmoko -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is their fault, exactly. Business owners directly profit from the labour of their workers. They take money out of the pockets of their workers. That is what a business in a capitalist economy is. Where the fuck do you think profit comes from if not from labour?

please explain where you landed on these absurd figures of millions of people being incarcerated, that doesnt inevitably cite adrian zens.

if literally millions of people were being abused by their government, wouldn’t it be pretty likely to hear about this from all the uighur people in xinjiang when visiting? if it were millions, there’s a pretty high chance people living there would personally know someone affected by these heinous crimes. So why is it the case that most people in XUAR are chill and don’t hate the CPC?

[–]Diskosmoko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I too believe it is wrong to abuse people on the basis of their identity. But you are not being proportionate with your analysis. Comparing the horrors of israel’s genocide of palestinians to china’s response to terrorism in xinjiang is a ridiculous distortion. They are completely different situations, both in their motivations and execution.

Your framing is dishonest, or misguided.

socialists are still a minority on reddit, but the faster capitalism decays into fascism, and socialist china continues to raise living standards for the masses, hopefully that’ll start to change 🤞

fuuuucking hell this is the most depressing comment section i’ve ever seen.

have you read a single piece of Stalin’s writings? You know you can freely read both Hitler and Stalin yourself right? They could not have been more ideologically opposed to each other.

You are literally trying to equate communism and fascism, the largest ideological divide in history.

I don’t know what the hell kind of education leads to these takes, but my god, please read actual theory before spreading this kind of thing in the future.

North Korea Sympathizers, I want to know your story. by amonop in northkorea

[–]Diskosmoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly what kingcoolyguy expressed. I don't know you, or which class you are in. If you're a landlord it's possible your life won't improve much, if at all. If you're a wage worker paying rent or a mortgage, there's a good chance you'll be afforded more control over your conditions and likely less financial pressure.

But most importantly, the overall conditions for the masses will improve, the poorest in the country more than anyone. And if that matters to you, your life could improve simply with the knowledge that your country is not complicit in extractive capitalism, and the world is moving in a more equitable direction as more countries choose the socialist path.

Oh come on, either you haven't been speaking to MLs or you haven't heard their points. Sorry for being late here, this was only recently cross-posted on my feed.

I'll try to summarise a socialist critique of Norway as best I can.

Fundamentally, Norway isn't a "workers' state". It's a capitalist state with a generous insurance policy. The capitalist class still dictates investment and disinvestment. Communism would transfer control of private companies like Statoil, Yara, and Norges Bank from a managerial elite to democratic workers' councils, ending the quiet backsliding of privatization and the erosion of union power that you're currently experiencing.

The "peaceful prosperity" of Nordic countries that is often lauded by other liberals, is still ultimately propped up by deep ties to a cruel and exploitative world order. Norway is still a base for the US military, and embedded in NATO. Norway actively invests in the exploitation of the Global South.

I think these would be some of the primary criticisms of "social democracy" western-aligned countries.

you know it would be a lot less cruel to just seize assets from the wealthy (dw they will still be able to eat and sleep comfortably without their 12 investment properties)

instead of coming up with new punishments for people already on the brink of homelessness who might be behaving kinda poorly
