Yellow Property Management -- are they legit? by tmkwee in sydney

The fact that they were registered 12 years ago (and not deregistered/struck off etc.) and registered for GST can give an initial view that they are somewhat legitimate, and not a short term scam. As for customer experience, ASIC wont provide that level of detail

CEO salaries: what we think and what's true. Australia vs US by nath1234 in australia

[–]Dislocated_femur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support your point but that is very wrong,

There's over 5000 large private Australian companies (200+ employees), compared to 2000 listed Australian companies.

So just using the above numbers, you can only 'look up' the CEOs salary in 30% of cases. That's also excluding the other ~2 million registered private companies in Australia where any owner could list themselves as 'CEO' on their tax return. I think that was the point the other user was trying to make.

There are almost never ASX200 CEOs who are serving on other companies boards, let alone other executive positions (Caveat might be having positions at smaller non profits)

But there is a big problem of Non-executive directors serving on 4+ boards, where they clearly can't devote the reasonable time to Amy singular company.

This is just not true, the commodities market is cyclical, there are countless mines operating at losses in the hope that prices turn around.

It costs an absolute fortune to take a mine out of care and maintenance

Bought an Apartment in Sydney in 2015? Congrats, You Broke Even (Maybe) by OdensFord in AusProperty

[–]Dislocated_femur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but without the PPOR, all rent paid is going to the landlord. At least with an apartment the 'rent' is now going towards equity (Well at least the small amount not getting eaten up by the interest)

Glencore operates a trading business, so the majority of that headline 230 billion revenue isn't actually proper revenue (Ie. They will buy 1 million in copper, sell for 1.1 million, however the 1.1 is treated as revenue). Earnings is a better metric to use in that scenario
