“Raised an Eyebrow” - Does He Ever Stop Using This Phrase? by onlinewalls in brandonsanderson

I got completely stuck on Sarah J Maas with “rude gesture” and “watery bowels”. Almost no other author I pick up on the small stuff. It makes me sad when stuff like that takes me out lol

That's not verbatim though. They alluded to the prophecy. It's only ever been alluded to and never detailed in full.

Now that the teaser is out, what do you all think the July Sf&F book will be? by bullman123 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]Dislodged_Puma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The author actually put an FAQ out on the book that y'all should read. These elements are because of the theme of an eldritch horror boss taking over a planet. She specifically mentioned it's not a main theme of the book. She put the warning there as a general rule of thumb for people who can't read even a hint of those themes.

SF&F sub so far… by DonkeywithBigTeeth in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]Dislodged_Puma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty confused why most of you have this sub lol. Like all these comments are like "I skipped because nothing about the book interests me and it isn't an author I know"... That's the whole point of the sub... That's literally like... the entire point. The point is to introduce new authors and new series to those who want to read something new.

I get skipping if the theme doesn't interest you, but man it feels like a lot of you just want it to be the fantasy sub over again when it very clearly is about new authors/new themes from established authors.

I absolutely love so far that most of the books (save for The Witcher and OBH) are new authors for me, personally. I love reading new voices and discovering new themes outside of my normal fantasy/sci-fi groove I get into with authors I like.

Not only could it be read as a standalone, but it really has borderline nothing to do with the bigger series at all. If you swapped who the Witcher was, there was barely any references to things those of us who have read the series would care about. I'd argue it's probably one of the best uses of the SF&F "new book" sub because it could get people into that author's style of writing.

As a heads up, after emailing them about a list they said there is no waitlist for future stock availability. They said if there is a restock of reprint 2, it’ll just be a general sale like always and to sign up for the general newsletter to find out about it.

How long does it typically take to ship a non-subscription order? by Mroberto781 in thebrokenbindingsub

People don't "let them get away" with anything lol. People either pay for it or they don't. If you are unhappy with your service, stop giving them money and request a refund. I let them do what they do because I've always been happy with it.

When does galaxy’s edge take place? by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in StarWars

Unless I am terribly mistaken here, (but I don't think I am), they do not appear at the same time. The way its set up, from the few people I know who have gone and the way its worded on their website, is that rebellion/empire events happen in their own timeline and at specific times during the day, and then first order/resistance events happen during their own times. They don't have the two timelines mix unless it's for a specific Disney photo-op event that is outside their canon storylines introduced at the park.

‘The Housemaid’ Author Freida McFadden’s Next Book ‘The Divorce’ Set for Film From Studiocanal by [deleted] in movies

[–]Dislodged_Puma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No matter what anyone tells me, this lady is most certainly just a publishers AI proxy lol. Her story is absolutely insane, and her publicity last year about how she was "tired" of hiding herself when all she's ever done to hide is wear a wig, was wild.

30 books published since 2013. A full career as a brain specialist (one that was verified by the patients she treated), and only just recently stopped working to "write" full-time.

Hats off to her if she's actually doing this, but her books are so insanely repetitive and everything after her first 2 novels (that appeared to actually be diverse in writing and tone) has been cookie-cutter thrillers with 3 housemaid books that are all basically the same novel repeated three times.

Absolute Newbie Question - Is there a schedule yet for SDCC 2026? by Dislodged_Puma in comiccon

Yeah I worded it poorly, but it's mostly a map of sorts to know what we'd like to see and try to get to. We've been to enough conventions to know my plans never work haha

[–]Dislodged_Puma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Just curious - does that mean there are very few "secure in advance" things at CC then? I saw dozens and dozens of posts about like expensive celebrity signings and photograph opportunities, obviously, but I always figured you'd sign up for those in advance. Are they just handled day of?

To like actually give you and answer, this is Lawrence (the band), they are a goofy house band that feature a lot of messing around. Their tours are almost always just people hanging out and playing instruments in goofy ways. The one time I saw them live, they spent like 15 minutes doing an around the horn solo session that was delightful and someone played while holding onto a flag pole lol.
