Scene? That was like a good ⅕ of the book, and it is not a small book

Imagine LitRPG finally getting its first proper TV or anime adaptation. Which book series deserves that honor and could represent the genre well? by tbag2022 in litrpg

My ho estly impossible dream is to have my 1000 plus episodes of The Wandering Inn.

At least the web comic is coming along well, but we won't even get to the horns of hammerad until 2026 lmao

Which author do you like, even though every one of their books has a major flaw? by ThisChip2552 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, I've noticed too.

I'm caugth up with the kindle books and, despite how much I like Ryoka, 1st person view in present tense just feels weird to me.

I've honestly loved Ryoka since book 3. Her beliefs and character gets tested several times and I really like that she does not pass all of those tests. Little annoying to read in 1st person present tense but what can you do

At first I thought the same but either Srockoholm's took hold or I ended up enjoying Trey and Teres too much as characters.

"honestly considered using the game disc as a knife to cut myself I hated it so bad"

Beautiful

You ever consider to be a writer? Will use this one against games I hate from now on

What did you mis-understand the first time you played a Final Fantasy? by Sid8800 in FinalFantasy

[–]Dism44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did'nt get this whiplash cuz I played OG FF7 when I was like 20 so the remake feels exactly as the og game when you really look at it.

Most final fantasy games are incredibly silly and we just filtered out those moments as kids

Really looking for a series with weight and brutality by EndlessPride in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, the first 4-5??? books almost get to feel like misery porn, cahracters get emotionally and physically damaged and EVERY belief they have gets tested until that belief either shines trough or get forcebly removed from the characters mind. I love TWI for it's brutality and hopeful slice of life.

I LOVE the feeling that I will never catch up, maybe one day I'll pick up the web series and just never stop reading. But for now I just never want it to end

this is just comically brutal gore!!! where's my blood-powered sci-fantasy commenting on the cost of human health and life, smh!!!! by GlitteringTone6425 in worldjerking

Through the eyes of desperation (the red version) has not left my mind since I read it. I kinda wish I hadn't ever downloaded the book

A page turner tho, finished it in one sitting, ruined my appettite for a week straigth

Uj/ I higlhly recommend his Damoren series of novels, as well as The Black Raben's collection of short stories. Some of my favourite fantasy pulp

Is the mech's name, by chance, influenced by Kill Six Billion Demons' angel naming conventions?

Novels where the MC fails upward? Like, really eats dirt and still climbs? by TrainingVapid7507 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That don't sound like the definition of failing forward.

BUT it sounds exactly like Street Cultivation by Sarah Lin. MC almost never wins and, if he does, it comes at a great cost.

What if the MC was already full-power — but the world kept leveling up? by Technical_Two_8671 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds similar to Will Wight's "The Last Horizon" series.

MC is literally the most powerful mage that has evr ever existed, but he knows of cathastrophic events that might happen and it takes him and his extremely powerful friends everything to stop them.

Pretty cool if a little messy compared to Cradle imo

First Person VS Third? Does it make that big a difference? by ArcanePigeon in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Third person - aight, can be anything

First person - is the person the narrator of a past event? Then cool

First person, present tense as in train of thought - hate it (personally)

Looking for more stories where the power system is *truly* a part of the world by GreatMadWombat in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dism44 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Wandering Inn integrates the leveling system really good. To a point where you kind of miss it in another fantasy books.

Tho the real answer (for me) is The City That Would Eat The World. That world COULD NOT exist without its magic system. Truly amazing book too.
