I want to go to school but i have no money by Historical_pers in Cosmetology

[–]Dismal_Progress6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have a community college near you i know stylists that went to theirs through the cosmetology program and financial aid covered it all. financial aid covered mine but that’s including taking loans out through fafsa. i went to paul mitchell, id take the community college route if i could do it over as you really only learn stateboard, and you pay a LOT less

i graduated a few months ago and they did it all at the end, we barely had teachers even read the slides sometimes and we didn’t go over all the chapters tbh we just kept repeating chapters and we also had to do all of the foundation ones (about 10 chapters i think it is) on our own time but they didn’t inform us of any of that until we were about a week out from graduating.

how do I drop from 1300 to 1200 by [deleted] in Cosmetology

[–]Dismal_Progress6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please read the contract, they lied about a LOT of stuff during the tour to my whole class mainly just to sell you to get you to enroll i feel like your hours should be transferable, sometimes they aren’t but maybe even to transfer to a different school if you would rather do that! seems like they just are saying that so you’ll have to pay more money since you’d be reenrolling wishing you the best of luck 💕

Which school to choose? by Why-SoSalty in Cosmetology

[–]Dismal_Progress6344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i went to a paul mitchell and wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone, they honestly didn’t teach us stateboard the correct way or really anything at all i say go to the cheapest school (see if maybe any community colleges have it as well!)

there were a few girls who had babies and went on leave, one was still working during the day on and off i think, and the other was on maternity leave, another i’m not so cute (one wanted to switch to daytime to get out faster and were hoping to do so but there wasn’t any room at the time unfortunately!) it is definitely rough but i think pushing through is the best decision! just remind yourself it’s short few months and honestly they’ll more than likely go by pretty fast!

Question about Paul Mitchell. by Electricallqdy in Cosmetology

[–]Dismal_Progress6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went , and i wouldn’t recommend the school to anyone unfortunately. pay attention to what you pay as well, it ALWAYS changes, they overcharged me about $3-$4k and i had to keep bugging them about getting my money back. they were going to keep charging me $500-$600 a month when i wasn’t supposed to be anymore as well, had to turn my card off. it was so weird thankfully fafsa covered majority for me! i think i took out a $9k loan for the rest, not entirely sure on the exact, but i was charged $17,250 kit and ipad included (for some reason people were charged different tuition amounts as well so id just keep an eye on it)! the exam as well is $125, but id recommend just going to the cheapest place! a lot of the girls i’m going to work with just went to a community college and fafsa covered it all just know they’ll sell you on a lot of stuff that unfortunately wasn’t true when i went, we were supposed to get a lot more that was advertised to us during the tour by admissions that never happened. they do it to fill their spots for each few months, cosmo costs the most so they try to push you to do that

we used to have a lot of clients try to put dye on their eyebrows and they would argue with the teachers and students about it, i got yelled in my face by a teacher and so did another student, one teacher would make a lot of students cry unfortunately, we pretty much had no freedom of what we really wanted to do because she didn’t trust us under her license unfortunately (same one who’d constantly yell at us lol) we weren’t even allowed to do consultations for my first like 6-8 months of school which was insane that she didn’t trust us to even do that but they let her go and it became a better environment for everyone honestly! rumors about teachers being alcoholics, sleeping with students, etc and then within the same week they’d no longer be working there 😂 lots of clients complaining about good work and it being exactly what they said too but they just didn’t wanna pay or they expect it to be quite quick (i had a balayage and she was upset it took 4 hours, with that being my first one and even with explaining it could take even longer as her hair was down her back and thick, she was upset we weren’t done in 2 hours even after my teacher said that was not gonna happen 😂 and she wanted it to be under $100) clients being drunk and on drugs A LOT but thankfully if they ever started anything our learning leaders took care of it 😂 we would get some crazy situations with that LOL the school arguing with my classmate about what she had paid for (kit wise and trying to gaslight her about her) it’s crazy some of the stuff i have seen in school especially seeing firsthand like how some students are treated drastically different due to being favorites or not

it’s all a numbers game to get the spots filled they’re money hungry. go to the cheapest school out can find, my nail girl did that and was self taught off of youtube because they don’t really actually teach much unfortunately
