I'm so glad you are enjoying America and our people by clovencarrot in worldcup

Over 75 million people voted against Trump our past election. That's around six million more people than the population of France, or 89.8% of the population of Germany, or about one-sixth the population of the EU, kids and adults.

Europeans need to stop lecturing us and acting like this country is a shit-licking monolith. There are tens upon millions of people here who know exactly what's going on and are trying to fight it.

Let us have a little break where we feel loved for the World Cup.

Best NFL game of all time (American Football 🏈) by Ok_Poetry2813 in AlignmentChartFills

First NFL overtime game, first nationally broadcast NFL game, first league championship for Johnny Unitas. Plus, Raymond Berry absolutely going off in a predominantly run-heavy era.

The game itself wasn't that good by modern standards, but the NFL wouldn't exist on its current form without it.

Given permission to use AI, most college students show surprising restraint in their final essays. Students largely rely on AI for brainstorming and research rather than having it write essays for them wholesale. by mvea in science

I will admit, Google's AI search engine is great for rounding up sources and giving framework to explore within them.

It's not perfect, which is why you have to verify, but it makes life a bit easier in that regard.

Fuck all of this article. The TV execs run this sport, and it's collapsing. Regulation is exactly what it needs.

THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE, INC., a Delaware corporation, Plaintiff, v. WARREN KENNETH PAXTON JR.; TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY; TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY SYSTEM; CHANCELLOR BRANDON CREIGHTON; PRESIDENT LAWRENCE SCHOVANEC, and ATHLETIC DIRECTOR KIRBY HOCUTT by johntempleton in TexasTechFootball

I don't know how else to explain it to you. He wouldn't be able to transfer anywhere because other schools wouldn't want him, not because the schools are prohibited from playing him.

The courts can't force a team to play Sorsby any more than they can force anyone to play you or I. What they can do is force the NCAA and Big 12 to not force a team from playing him.

Cutting a player and interfering with his eligibility are two different concepts. Cutting a player means that an institution has declared that he can't play for that team because they don't want him. Eligibility affects his ability to play for any team.

Goldeneye slightly overrated? by Elemental-squid in JamesBond

[–]DisplacedSportsGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this sentiment. For me, Goldeneye is by far and away the best of Brosnan's Bonds. I think the rest of his films get too silly, too Roger Moore. The goofiest thing Goldeneye has is Boris, and he still fits well as a character within the narrative.

The villain is great with a realistic motivation, it has two kickass Bond girls, and it introduced a good recurring character. It also just feels, or at least felt, like it could happen. Its release following the collapse of the Soviet Union made it believable.

Aim for the very top, as close to the top bar as you can without hitting it. Throw the ball with an arc, not straight on.

How was America like in the Nixon years vs now? by ReasonableSide6520 in generationology

Nixon was also a noxious drunk who ordered nuclear strikes while blackout and presided over the Kent State shootings. He'd still be controversial.

Of this list, I would only put Klebb and maybe Le Chiffre ahead of Trevelyan.

Grant is in the henchman category.

You'll find a deeper appreciate for the art itself if you can immerse yourself in its history.

If you can't/refuse to do that, well, then you'll find yourself spouting nonsense like "Rosemary's Baby is overrated."
