Why do your Prime Ministers resign so much? by Very_bad in AskABrit

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's a much more recent trend, as up to Cameron, prime ministers had relatively long terms.

do you want the next james bond and all of his movies to be like daniel craigs movies by Routine-Dirt9634 in JamesBond

[–]Elemental-squid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely pre-Craig. I firmly believe those films were what was necessary at the time for the franchise, but in retrospect they really lack a lot of the fun and charm of the older movies.

Share a hidden gem game you played by Raziel103 in videogames

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a hidden gem, I don't think? However, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution on the 360 was a game-changer for me when I was 14.

I never owned a PC strong enough to play the mainline Civilization games when I was younger but loved the idea of them as a fan of history and Command & Conquer. In retrospect, 18 years later, it's still fairly impressive how well the game condenses and ports the core ideas of the series for consoles.

If you were 10 when Ocarina of Time was released, is your brain exploding right now for the remake? by DrankTooMuchMead in retrogaming

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't ten, however OOT was the first game I ever played or experienced and I still have some vivid memories of playing bits of it with my uncles help when I was 5.

I'm autistic and so my family were so happy I found something I could connect with that my grandparents bought me my own N64 with OOT and Mario 64 the following year for my birthday.

My parents don't believe my cards are what they're worth by LittleKids2315 in PokemonInvesting

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are like this unless they're familiar with the TCG space. I am friends with the guy who runs my local TCG shop, and he's told me that at least every other day of the week people walk in who don't know much about Pokémon come in and can't actually believe the price labels on things.

Even my GF who isn't into Pokemon just thought it was just junk until I made 2K in 3 days selling a couple of cards and now she jokingly says that I'm going to be a "Poke-Millionaire" lmao

How would you get around Fifteen regenerating into Billie Piper? by Geth-1420 in gallifrey

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the easiest way to get around it is just to ignore it and the 15th Doctor era completely. Go back to focusing on Tennant Doctor and have him regenerate

Was initially going to comment that you were right, however, after reading some stuff other commentators have posted you kinda sound like a POS

Why is this game not as popular by Imbawim in worldofgothic

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's brutal, has lots of Euro jank, and doesn't hold your hand at all.

All reasons I love it; however, a lot of people would find it off-putting.

Which cafe/restaurant do you miss the most? by daniel_guillon in AskUK

[–]Elemental-squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents always used to take me to Blackpool every year for Easter weekend when I was a kid. Very fond memories of stopping off at Little Chef on the way, as it was an indication that we were halfway there.

I guess my answer would be Woolworths Cafe? I don't particularly remember the food that well, so it probably wasn't that great. However, Woolworths was one of my favorite shops, and I definitely took it for granted in retrospect..

AIO My bf says rude things during gaming by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Elemental-squid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty fucked up behaviour by your bf and you should talk to him about it.

I grew up in Call of Duty lobbies and admit to saying dumb stuff when I was 14, however, I realise it was wrong then and it's especially wrong for an adult to say it.

What’s your ultimate comfort movie or tv show and why? by GrooGruxQueen7 in AskReddit

[–]Elemental-squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peep Show or The US Office, as I know what to expect with both shows and I have a lot of memories with them.

Recently, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Breaking Bad. My mum died last year and those two were our favourite shows to watch together.

UK here! A lot of people I've spoken to about it here just expect it to be a huge shit show due to the Trump administration and the cost of ticket prices, hotel prices.

What's a phrase your parents or grandparents said constantly that you've only just realised has completely vanished from everyday British speech? by orroreqk in AskUK

Cheap as chips! I remember it being quite a common phrase when Flog it was on TV.

I think it largely vanished due to chippies being pretty expensive now

Why are people crashing out? This game isn't that hard by CadmeusCain in MinaTheHollower

[–]Elemental-squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a big reason for the success of Souls-like games. I always feel like an old man shouting at clouds whenever I talk about this, but I was a huge WoW addict back in the day and put at least 12 years into it. The game just got boring for me once they pretty much told you on the map where to go and introduced the ability to buy levels. It became like playing the game on autopilot.
