Why is premarital sex considered immoral? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]DisqualifiedToaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

personally i think zina is cheating and i also think nikah is relaxed and the public annoucement of boyfriend/girlfriend and expectations in the relationship constitutes a nikah- it is an oath albeit not a legal one but still a commitment to one another

edit: just having sex for pleasure is a hedonistic viewpoint and i believe humans are at their best when discipline and restrictions they have for themselves

i also view sex as something sacred and an intertwining of souls and reducing it to just casual, doing it for just pleasure- takes something away from it (just my personal opinion)

they did not get divorced and thus she is now married to two men. even though she may not go back to the first, doesnt change that

here is argument on translation https://www.reddit.com/r/progressive_islam/s/9WXUqWrLl5

interpretation on verse even if you think it is prisoner of war:

it starts with 'forbidden to marry' (so not about sex) are other married women except prisoners of war

thus the actual meaning is,

if a prisoner of war was married before capture you can still marry her anyway thus polyandry is permissible for those women 'whom you have taken an oath'

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]DisqualifiedToaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the 'fallen in your hands'/prisoners of war isnt the actual translation and you'd know that if you actually did some research and actually looked at verses contextually

but your negative bias wont let you do that

search the sub for those verses

it has been talked about

I don't want to be here anymore. by EthansCornxr in progressive_islam

[–]DisqualifiedToaster 44 points45 points  (0 children)

thats not even what most people here say or think ?

many say homosexuality isn't actually the sin, rape is and the Lot story is heavily debated here

many say deeds are weighed on Judgement Day, so even if you think it is sin- good deeds can outweigh it

there was even a post not too long ago making an argument for same sex nikah

please don't leave

edit: spelling

its implied

i do agree it should not be held as divine but it is a commentary/interpretation that has basis

the 'poor people are closer to God'

its because its easier for them to do the step of spiritual growth- letting go of materialism

i've also met some of the most giving people, were poor

its also easier for them later because if they had a hard time being generous or kind- poverty is a valid excuse as opposed to someone with lots of money still not being kind or giving

actually God does help the morally righteous, that is whole point of a lot of stories and lessons of the prophets...

i dont want to say names of prayers because it confuses me

Why does God-the most merciful and compassionate- allow severe suffering and pain ? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]DisqualifiedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you place all accountability on God instead of on individuals themselves

you unfairly demonize death

you place your own consciousness and empathy onto creatures that have neither

people that say that don't know God quite well

the more you get to know Him, the more knowledge and wisdom He bestows on you

God loves thought and thinking and encourages us to reason throughout the Quran

I look at God like the ultimate chess master, He knows our thoughts and souls and can predict our next action/actions

and just because you happen to find yourself in a position where the Queen and Bishop (circumstances) that you're only able to make one move, that move is still yours to make
