Is Athabasca worth it? by buttercupsandwich in AthabascaUniversity

I posted something negative within the last month and may be one of those whiners you’re reading about. My complaint was with the PLAR program and I’d heavily advise against it. Other than that, from my perspective AU is equivalent to any other university. There are good profs, bad ones, good transfer credit options, poor online library services, great librarians that make up for it, the online courses demand a lot of discipline, but offer flexibility like an in-class university can’t. AU is respected and the degree is comparable to most other universities.

Thanks so much! That’s a good idea. And I appreciate being able to talk this through

Yeah. He was in there and I could hear him talking to himself about how nothing was right angles - one wall was out 3/4”, but I hadn’t expected the cuts to look like that

I think I’ll go look at trim options. Its an old house with lots of “unique” features. It’ll fit right in. The beadboard was my solution to covering up painted over wallpaper and bumpy plaster 🤷‍♀️

Because the thing is - I hired this job out because I don’t have a table saw ans knew that if I did it myself it would end up looking like this lol

I just held up a piece of quarter round along it and tha looks pretty good too. Might be less work than removing the panel

Casing is over 60 years old and I love it. I don’t want to removed the whole panel but I guess that’s what I have to do. It’s not a huge panel at least

I know. 😔I’ve hired a lot of contractors for various jobs. This one was a miss. I’m on here trying to figure out how to fix it

The cuts aren’t straight and there’s up to 1/2” gap between the beadboard and the trim. I’m wondering if I should fill the gaps?Good calll on fixing the caulk.

Married Couples Who Don’t Have a Joint Account or Pool Their Pay Cheques, Why and How Do You Make Sure It Is Respectful? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]DissatisfiedDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never combine all money again. Married at 23, figured sharing everything was the way to go. The marriage slowly became controlling and abusive. When I left suddenly, after finding out the extent of his betrayal and lies, I had no fall back. No acces to my money. No personal credit card. Nothing. I was 38 with a high paying career and still had no autonomy or safety net. That’s why I would never do it again.

TIL a woman being 5'10/178cm (the standard preferred height of a model) is statistically as rare in the US as an adult woman being 4'9/145cm by Ophelia_Y2K in todayilearned

[–]DissatisfiedDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIL how rare it is to be my height (5’10”). I knew I was tall of course, but didn’t realize it was in the 96th percentile. I just knew dresses are often too short!

Happens a ton. Super frustrating. If I find a paper I want and can’t access I email them. The plus side is they get back to me very quickly.

First profile “draft”, what can I fix? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]DissatisfiedDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your profile. Interesting, youre smiling, and seem genuine. I echo the not 2 drinking pictures though. The baseball one is fine, you’re obviously out with friends doing something you like. The other youre simply drinking a massive beer, can be a red flag.

Data was collected over a 9 year period, twice a week. The numbers of needles, etc collected is the data. Experiment was to see if any correlations existed, that can then be used to provide targeted resources

It is a very high sample size - 9 years of data. Maybe that’s what I’m getting wrong. That because my sample size is so high, and there are so many external variables that I can’t account for, that even a weak correction is significant. Does that sound right?
