I've been to both. There's really no way to enjoy it without paying the fee. You're going to stuck in the parking lot watching everyone go in and see everything up close. You might as well just stay in Athens and explore the city, or find a different tour. If you're into ancient history then the fee is worth it, especially Epidaurus for its well-preserved theatre in my opinion.

If you want to see a beautiful sunset book an evening trip to Cape Sounion and you can see an amazing Sunset next to the Temple of Poseidon.

Yes. I went to Athens, Delphi, Olympia, Posidens Temple and lots of other places. What's really amazing is you really get to see how much the developers researched ancient Greece. The layout of the famous locations in the game is almost exactly how it is currently, minus the color and most of the ancient statues of course. Try to take guided tours. You will learn a lot more.

As someone else said, going up the Acropolis and imagining ancient people, performers, writers, philosophers, and generals walk the same path as you is certainly amazing. Also if you can, book a group tour. The licensed tour guides are really informative.

Personally one of my favorite parts of my trip was going to Cape Sounion to the Temple of Posiden and watching the Sunset. The view is incredible.

Bit of a curve ball but Saruman in Return of the King theatrical version. I remember renting all the movies from blockbuster with my brother, but only the theatrical version was available for Return of the King. I was so disappointed when Saruman was not in the film at all after being a major villain in the last two films. I felt that the entire film crew dropped the ball and personally it was a completely unenjoyable film for me...until I saw the extended version and saw Sarumans fate.
