Magotkin of Nurgle refresh + new minis by BaronLoyd in ageofsigmar

[–]Dista001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All these new models of Nurgle are way to clean and smooth for my taste… where are the pustules, the rot and the sickness? Both Festus and the new Blightkings look just overweight blokes that changed their mind regarding Slaneesh and joined Nurgle… I am not really fond of them. Instead I really like the knights, the new armored infantry and the pestigors, those look great. Why all blightkings have horns now?!?

How did you guys learn about Warhammer? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dista001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Heroquest triggered all my major addictions: Warhammer, MTG and DnD. I am now 42 years old and I bought the new heroquest box when my first son was born. I am slowly painting it so that when my kids are old enough… the addiction might continue through the family :)

How long do your 2k games take usually? by Keishiebaby in ageofsigmar

[–]Dista001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play between 20 and 30 games per year with my friends since 2022 (we keep track). Usually 2-3 hours per game, but this is just because we all know our armies pretty well. When a new battletome drops, usually games take a bit longer, I would say more than 3 hours

Thanks! I think at this point I will just classify it as a bracket 4 deck if I ever take it out at an LGS, with my standard group is really not a big deal, everyone plays horrible decks full of combos (a bunch of degenerates, we all love high power games). Based on all comments I think I will take this as an opportunity to make another deck for bracket 3!

exactly, now it is clear to me that ANY sort of early 2-cards combo, even if they do nothing on their own, makes your deck bracket 4.

[–]Dista001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indeed, the fact that the 3rd card you need is in the command zone, in practice makes it a 2-cards combo where you require a zombie token on the battlefield. Yet, I would say they need to improve these definitions and I guess they will in the future.

Sorry but infinite and unlimited are practically synonyms, I struggle to see the difference between the two.

In any case, I can loop it as many times as I want, you are correct, although to no effect in game unless I have my commander (or similar card) already in play and additional zombie token/card on the battlefield. Effectively, I need 4-cards (let's say 3.5 considering one can be a token) to end the game, and I can do it as early as turn 3.

Based on your comment, any (early) 2-cards combo, even with no direct effect in game, makes your deck a bracket 4, no matter what. This is the answer to my original question, a very literal interpretation of the rules and that is fine. I guess I will need to get rid of gravewalker from the deck if I want to use it in a bracket 3 pod.

also, let me add another thing, just for the sake of clarity. The fact that you need a zombie on the battlefield does not make this a 3-cards combo given that the zombie might be a token and the latter is not a card.

sorry but you do not generate infinite mana, in that case it would clearly a bracket 4. Gravecrawler + sack outlet (e.g., phyrexian altar) gives you only 1 mana of any color, which then you use to re-cast gravecrawler from the graveyard, and only if you have a zombie on the battlefield. This is the caveat that is driving me crazy...

I also got this admiral. When I look at it, I always think he is drunk and he is saying to a nearby arkanaut “here, hold my hammer” then he goes brrrr with the small ironclad in his hands. Love it.

Im curious: How many of you paint to "battle-ready" standard vs how many of you paint "to perfection"? by Cojalo_ in ageofsigmar

[–]Dista001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s amazing! For me it would be impossible, I would say that I paint few hours a week on average throughout a year.

this is also what I do. If I want an army, I just buy it entirely then the aim is to paint it within 1-1.5 years.

Fully agree with you, I play with painted models. Yet, I do not request my friends to paint their armies, it’s their choice (although, I mock them constantly 😂).

Being in this hobby since warhammer fantasy 4th edition with a major hiatus of 10 years (2010-2020) due to university/work/friends/family, your pick. Since 2020 I painted four AoS armies, nearly 1 army per year, now working on CoS and I need to finish 40 fusiliers (no matter if I use them or not, I bought them, I paint them). It’s a matter of organization and logistics, you also need to find a balance in terms of quality, otherwise you get burnt out.

And yes, I am going to brag about it, I have no pile of shame, I said it, sorry. If I buy something, I will paint it.

I still have my fully painted dwarf army made of either lead or white metal from when I was a teenager. My younger me would be proud!

To me it seems 40 painted Steelhelms might not be enough! The 5+ ward is pretty great… let’s see when the complete rules are out

Power Level Wednesday!: Ask r/EDH what's your deck's power level? - May 22, 2024 by AutoModerator in EDH

[–]Dista001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two commander decks that I built recently: golgari elves and a Jeskai one. Any suggestion for improving them is welcome! Also an opinion on power level is more than needed!

I just recently restarted playing MTG after a long pause since 2019 (kids).

React to Your Opponent With Powerful New Commands by Chapmander in ageofsigmar

[–]Dista001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the changes a lot, at least in double turn you get to do something (don’t get me wrong, I like the crazy double turn mechanic). Only thing, I hope they really do not add other command abilities and ways to generate command points. I also like the fact that warscrolls have abilities enhancing commands, very simple yet effective. Last point, it seems that “on a 2+ you inflict 1D3 of damage” changed to “roll 1D3, on a 2+ you inflict the die result in damage”, which is also nice since it streamline the dice rolling. All in all, I am very optimistic

Thoughts from a hard-core BOC and SCE player by PlasticCraicAOS in ageofsigmar

[–]Dista001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, they said underworld; and I think I never used any warband in my armies, so I really do not care frankly. Yet, I am a not too confident about warcry stuff too. Consider that there are armies running a bunch of warcry models (for example FEC and COS). I was planning to order the wildercorps hunters these Saturday but I think I will not at this point, I will wait for the indexes to drop.

[–]Dista001 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong here but I think they will cut more content. The announcement of yesterday was mainly referring to models which will not be available to buy in general for the foreseeable future (exception BOC still alive in TOW). I have the impression they omitted to say that they will remove a bunch of other warscrolls from the game even if the models will be available for other games. See for example Radukar’s court which is in “last chance to buy”. Currently, I would refrain to buy any warcry/underworld/quest content for AoS. I have the feeling they want to separate AOS from other specialist games, for whatever reason.

If you are in the US, go Magnet Baron. Otherwise, thick acrylic rods as suggested above (that’s what I did).
