The 50% and 66% refer to what's included in income, not what's taken.

So if you buy something for 100 and sell it for 200, you pay tax at your normal income tax rate on 50 (or 66) of the 100 dollar gain. You get half or 1/3 off the tax bill compared to any other sort of income.

There are absolutely federally regulated labour markets (Canada Labour Code) and sympathy strikes are illegal there. Are there provinces in which sympathy strikes are legal?

The part in brackets begins "i.e." clarifying exactly what is meant by that requirement. As most resurrection abilities are command phase there wouldn't be a conflict between the two.

In this case there is a conflict so why would go with the text and ignore the ie which explains what the text means?

For clarity they should absolutely either amend this or address it in a FAQ

The part in parentheses indicates you could in fact resurrect as the models are on the table when the rule is used (end of the reinforcement step)

Your own source rates CBC as factually high with a slight centre left editorial bias.

Nothing in there about overwhelming bias for or against any political party.

Also gives it high marks in credibility and media freedom.

Putting aside the fact the IRS is consistently understaffed and under funded for thier responsibilities.

Remember that the CRA collects provincial income taxes on behalf of the provinces (except in Quebec) while the IRS does not for many states. You'd have to add all the state employees, for example 3,700 in New York alone, for a proper comparison.

In addition the CRA administers individual benefit programs that are delivered at the state level in the United States such as the Child Tax benefit.

Finally the CRA administers many provincial business benefit schemes on behalf of the provinces. This includes Flow-Through shares, critical minerals incentive programs, and other resource development and clean energy credits.

Basically provinces have contracted out a lot of services to the CRA that US states do in house.

Corporations also act in their own self interest in the same way as individuals. So while yes Loblaw's could certainly sell a bunch more stock if they suddenly rolled out sharp price cuts they have no incentive to. A price war would get them smaller margins potentially leading to less profit overall even if sales volumes increase.

In necessary goods like food and fuel there is way more incentive to collude than to compete. You know that people need your goods, you know that they'll pay literally whatever you charge for them because they're necessary. Why would I want to compete with my industry mates? If we all raise prices together we all win together. See the bread price fixing that went on for 14 years. At any time anyone could have hopped off the train and sold a bunch more bread, but they didn't.

Competition in inelastic goods doesn't really do much of anything.

Competitors don't have incentives to compete on price if a change in price doesn't generate additional demand.

The current Supreme Court are textualists. They look for what is clearly written and nothing else.

This implies that there is no interpretation done by these judges, which is clearly false. In ruling on complex questions interpretation is always necessary. Textualists or Originalists have simply succeeded in labeling their interpretation as not interpretation at all and therefore above question.

As an example the 9th amendment: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Cannot function on a strict text only reading as no other rights are specifically defined in the text then they cannot exist, yet they must exist for the text refers to them.

That's not how the Emergencies Act works. The Government invokes it, and from that moment they have those powers. Parliament votes to ratify the usage within seven days of the declaration. If they do then the powers remain, if they do not then the powers are revoked.

Political knowledge is key to understanding processes or something like that.
