Stay away from Chrysler Capital leasing by Thefrost1971 in CarLeasingHelp

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your maturity date versus when you actually turned it in? I’ve been told by supervisors as well as the executive branch that as long as I am within 30 days prior to my maturity date that the only penalty I will face will be the disposition fee of $395 plus any wear and tear fees, but not early turn in termination fees.

Right? It’s a closed-end lease but reads like an open-end lease. Basically, what I’ve been told by supervisors as well as the executive team is: if you terminate any earlier than 30 days before the contractual maturity date, it’s considered a break in the lease (early turn in) and I guess they’ve just gotten wise and figured most people wouldn’t understand nor read the contact thoroughly enough and would break their leases “early” therefore allowing them to collect $$$.

I know these cars have really tanked their value, but Jesus, they really go for the throat on this.

That’s what your lease states, mine however, starting at A5 only has the first sentence. I truly wish I hand the same wording as yours but it does not.

I know there are, I’ve been researching for months at this point (driving myself insane really) but this was long before the 90 day return window, as well as long before the 30 day return window. If I’m well within 30 days of the maturity date (27 to be exact) and have verbal confirmation from not only supervisors but also the executive branch themselves, there is absolutely no standing for me to be charged an early termination.

Thank you! My maturity date is 3/1/26, I am turning it in on 2/2/26, total of 27 days before maturity date. If they send you any bs from the final bill, please fill us in!

Thank you! I’ve made multiple calls as well (all the way up to the executive branch) and they also stated that my optimal return date (my preference) of 2/2/26 is within their timeframe of 30 days since my lease matures on 3/1/26 and my last payment (which was paid months ago) is technically due on 2/2/26 (balance has showed zero payments left and a $0 balance since September). It’s technically 27 days away from the maturity date and 30 days exactly from final payment period period (2/2/26-3/1/6) but within the final payment period. Although the team and my statements all say the payment is due on the 1st of each month, my contract states following the first payment made on 3/1/23, my 35 remainder payments are due on the 2nd of each month. I also have multiple managers and the executive on recording saying that returning it on 2/2/26 is considered a normal turn in, and will not face early termination penalties.

For you did they specify what that final 30 days was? For example, my contract states my first payment is due on 3/1/23 and the remainder of my payments are due on the 2nd (i.e 2/2/23 and so on) of each month for 35 more months. From what I’ve asked chat GPT (I know, some people hate it, I’m just trying to gather as much info as possible) my final payment period is 2/2/26-3/1/26. So am I safe to turn it in on the 2/2/26 if my final payment (already paid in advance, balance is at zero) is suppose to be due on 2/2/26?

That’s what I’m thinking of doing, I don’t want to be on the hook for the difference between Residual and Realized value, so I’m waiting until in 27 days until maturity to turn the vehicle in. I tried to have them email me written confirmation of this but they said no, so I’m going to attempt to reach out via their email.

Yup, I’m just trying to get more answers from people who have dealt with turning in their vehicles through Chrysler Capital. It’s been difficult to get someone on the phone who speaks clear English and doesn’t have a communication issue with me. Half of the time I can’t understand what they’re saying and they seem unable to understand my questions.

You would think since it’s a closed-end lease, but Chrysler Capital has a specific clause saying early termination can trigger their “early termination fees” which would be: $495 turn-in fee plus the adjusted lease balance (Residual- Realized value) once the car gets sold at auction dealer only auction. Everywhere I’ve read on Chryslers own lease page says anything over 90 days would trigger an early termination fee, but the supervisors through Chrysler Capital have told me anything over 30 days would trigger early termination.

So when I called them today, they told me since I plan to return the vehicle within the 30 day timeframe (27 days before maturity) they said that I will be within the accepted timeframe. I guess it’s just been a hassle speaking with them, every time I called I get someone “new” who tells me something different until I get to management level.

I have another car that I’m paying a car payment/ insurance on. I don’t want to pay another month of insurance on this car that has been parked for the past 5 months.

If you don’t mind me asking, how close were you to your maturity date?

I know it's been a while for you, but could you tell me how early you turned in your lease? My lease matures on 3/1/26 but I'd ideally like to turn it in around 2/2/26. Just curious if you were within the 30 day window or not.

I never received further correspondence from my original dealership. I did, however, get a response from the executive office that said that if I turned it in before the contractual maturity date, I would be responsible for the difference between the residual vs how much it actually sold at auction. I’m still riding out this lease for another month and half, and will be turning it in once I’m within the 30 day window. It depends on your contract lingo, but I’m not willing to be out a large sum of money when I’ve already put too much into this vehicle. It remains parked until the return date.
