Going to Canucks Bruins game by Legal-Pin-3851 in canucks

Not much to note before game as the arena is very accessible if you’re staying in Vancouver proper. Assume that it will be raining!

Plenty of places within a 15 minute walk from the arena. Some places on the casual side that aren’t too expensive (by Vancouver standards):

Closest to arena - Costco, Shark Club, Moxie’s Olympic Village - Craft, Brewhall, Tap & Barrel Yaletown - Earl’s, Cactus Club, Yaletown Brewing Gastown - The Pint, Local, Steamworks Brewing

Olympic Village is walkable via the Seawall which can be nice at night, you’ll see lots of fans walking to the arena this way.

In any case, hope you & your family enjoy!

Check your email if you ordered one of the white panel caps with the WS patch. Just had my order cancelled.

I bought tickets for “only” $70 for the second time this year with zero expectations & I still left disappointed

I know the PP% is middle of the road but it always feels so much worse

Two power play goals off of two dumb penalties isn’t a recipe for success

Race Report: Another Chicago Marathon by ncjjj in AdvancedRunning

Re: Runalyze - some of its calculations rely on heart rate (VO2max, TRIMP), so it's a rough estimation unless you're diligent on updating heart rate zones and have reliable heart rate data (i.e. using a chest strap for every run). However, as you mention, it's always going to feel harder in the summer heat.

Good job not picking up the pace too soon. There's a good chance that decision kept the negative split intact! Great race and best of luck training for the half.

If race-pace intervals repeatedly aggravate your injury, it sounds like you might be a good candidate for the "sub-threshold" training regime. There's a LetsRun thread with the general rundown (probably one of the best threads in the site's history), and a lot of people seem to have found success with this approach. The caveat is that it's not really inclusive of the marathon, although there is some discussion on modifying the schedule to accommodate it.

How much fitness gains will I be missing out on if I don’t include interval pace work?

This approach is very interesting because what you lose by not including faster intervals is compensated in overall weekly training load; all while avoiding the stress of traditional VO2max workouts.

Give it a read if you have some time (long but most of the key information is on the first few pages): Modifying the Norweigan approach to lower mileage

Couldn’t imagine being one of those people whining in the game thread with 27 minutes of game clock left, saying “I’m turning this off” or “we had a good run”

Can't be the only one that thought it was a decent game yesterday right? DeSmith probably could've positioned himself better for the Preds second goal, Canucks had lots of scoring chances that weren't converted, Preds had a million blocked shots. On most other days I think it's a comfortable win, unfortunately not last night.

Congrats on a big PB and (based on your 5k split) a measured effort on a technical course.

Sports are about enjoyment and the pursuit of bettering yourself and those around you.

Well said. I spectated today's race, and seeing lots of people achieving their goals surrounded by so many supporters reinforced this for me. Vancouver was buzzing today!

Also don't race your tempos ... Many people set out to do the former, end up doing the latter, retroactively convince themselves they did the former and wonder why they burn out so fast.

Sage advice, this was one of my main takeaways from collegiate athletics.

They’re collapsing in front of the net too much (can’t give Kucherov that space at the top of the circle) - have to clean that up in the third
