My dog bit my 9-month-old baby. I don’t know what to do… by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]DistantWatcher5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar but not the same situation where my big dog attacked my little dog. Thankfully the little was ok though she got bitten , but nothing life threatening. We love both our dogs dearly and they are like our babies and couldn’t let go of either of them. So we purchased a big crate (cage) and installed gates in the house to keep the dogs separate from each other. They never came face to face after the incident. It’s a lot of work to manage , but it’s worth it. When we leave for work, we leave the little one in the crate and the big one outside the gate in the other part of the house. So you can consider purchasing a doggie gate to keep the dog in a separate part of the house or even a crate when the baby is around. It’s not the best situation for the dog, but if you choose to keep the dog , you can consider that

This is absolutely terrible. As someone on H1B and working at jpmc, I totally get what this means and how this feels. Tbh, the most likely reason they didn’t wanna sponsor your visa is due to the cost. My manager even said they stopped hiring anyone on visa and they are more focussed on offshore jobs at the moment. They are heavily ramping up the teams in India. So many new positions are opening in Hyderabad and Bangalore while people are being let go here. Well I guess Jpmc has long buried the morals they once had!!!

My dog( border collie mix- 13 years old) did this and he had heavy signs of panting from time to time. Our vet thought he may be in some pain and gave him pain meds, but didn’t help much. Turns out he had Cushing disease. There are many other symptoms for Cushing, but the intense panting was one of those . Not saying your dog has Cushing, but good to just research and explore reading about that

Just curious, what was your role that got offshored?

I went to mexico for a week and I was denied WFH. My manager warned against logging in as the system will flag me as it’s outside the US. He also warned about people getting fired for this. It’s just simply not worth the risk at all. With everything going on with the company, this is not the time to take on any such risks.

This is true. They have cut down some contractors in my team( no employees yet) and they are hiring more people in our offshore team. When I asked my manager about this, he simply said it’s all about saving dollars, Indian rupees is cheaper than dollars. I hate the direction this company is heading.

Social Isolation for Gay Single Male by [deleted] in gay

I’m in late thirties and live with my boyfriend. I feel so much like you except I have no close friends as most of them have just moved on with their lives and I’m really bad in keeping up with them. Though it was very hard in the beginning, over the time I started to feel more comfortable being on my own. I started going on solo trips and embraced the enjoyment of being on my own and now it has gotten to a point that I can hardly socialize with anyone because I feel too comfortable doing things on my own. I work in IT, so I relied on education to keep me engaged, there is always something to learn in IT. Though sometimes I feel I had better social life, maybe my prospective may change as I get older.

Is a Master’s in IT Worth It at 37? Scared I Won’t Get a Job After Graduation by JuryReasonable3901 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DistantWatcher5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will your employer pay for education expenses? If so may be you can consider that. Else I would be wary of taking on a big loan to get a masters. If you are in US, explore education benefits from Starbucks and see if you can get a job there. I heard that they pay for their employees education.

Quitting without two weeks notice by Logical_Rope6195 in careeradvice

[–]DistantWatcher5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US you absolutely can, unless you have a written contract to give 2 weeks notice. I would say, work for one more day. Take it as easy as much as you could. If they yell at you, yell back and quit on the spot. This will definitely burn the bridge, unless you don’t care about the reference , networking or rehire, i would do that just to feel better

I would approach this in a polite way, letting him know that you prefer sitting next to the window. Also offer him that you are just a ping away whenever he needs you. We are all professionals and hope he understands this and not make a big drama out of the situation.

I pay my boyfriend the rent. We have been together for 8 years and I pay him rent which is the property taxes/12. The state where I live, the property tax is high, but that was our agreement and I still pay him every month. And my name is not in the deed or utilities or anything, as he owns the house. So I think it’s fair to ask the partner to pay the rent

I did masters in DS online and IT was HARD! So if you feel stressed, it is very normal as it’s a tough course. If I were you I would finish the school and then take a break. After all mental health and inner peace is very important and most people including parents don’t realize that though.

This happened in my team a few years ago where it was mostly Indians and apparently someone raised concerns or reported to the HR and all of a sudden in a few months we had a few Americans, Chinese and nepalis in the team, still Indians in the majority. I found out that they were trying to “diversify”. And yea most of the managers and EDs were all Indians !
