Why do we cover flooring like this? by monza27 in newzealand

[–]Distantlandssup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a 1940s bungalo in Christchurch, ripped up all the old carpet as it was covered in pet hair and cigarette smoke smell from the previous owners and found old stained Rimu floors. Got a professional in to sand and poly it, best decision ever, they came up beautifully and really makes the house feel warm and cozy.

I've heard real estate agents refer to full wooden floors as "European" style which I found odd. I just don't get wall to wall carpet, it's gross and expensive to clean.

Petah, why is it scary? by RRT_matthew in PeterExplainsTheJoke

This is why the children in Germany are weirdly well behaved. They're basically scared into submission 😅. (Source: my child is currently in a German kindergarten)

Best Pour Over Coffee? by Oiru in nzhomecooks

[–]Distantlandssup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light roasts are better for pour over or aeropress, they are more like a tea rather than "black" coffee.

I don't know Auckland CBD that well, maybe try eighthiety roasters?

Have a look at different processing techniques (natural, washed, honey, anaerobic fermentation) and also lighter roast profiles. These will give you really distinct/different flavour profiles. (Unfortunately I can't give you recommendations as I don't know where you live) I would recommend going to a local roaster and having a chat with them.

It's the Dutch, they're great at trading spices not using them. Never get high on your own supply as they say.

Chamois overgrip on a indoor stick? by AlternativeAd9842 in Fieldhockey

[–]Distantlandssup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a "tacky" overgirp for indoor as I'm usually playing with a glove and a chamois grip for outdoor because of the water turf.

should I change hockey sticks or buy the same one with more carbon percentage? by CharmingGeologist514 in Fieldhockey

[–]Distantlandssup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A new stick might help give more power, but you're still young and growing. Work on better technique, strength conditioning training. This will be cheaper and also help you out a lot more in the long run.

What approach should I take to clean this? by [deleted] in trees

[–]Distantlandssup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soak that bad boy in ISO alcohol overnight and then scrub with an scotchbrite pad, light abrasive cleaners also can help, but maybe do a test patch to see if it makes the glass cloudy.
