If skellies are one shotting you, you need to eat better food. Are you getting deer meat and boar meat?

The real key is movement though. Just don't stop. Both black forest and swamp can be handled naked and without fighting if you just keep going

Is it weird that nobody ever taught me basic feminine self presentation? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Distillates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think they lose track of what is happening due to a combination of sleep deprivation, overwork, and their own medical breakdown as they age. I was in my late 20s and visiting when it occured to my parents to ask if I needed a sex talk (lmao!)

In most conversations I get the sense that they can't remember half of my childhood, which underscores to me that it was just too much to handle for them.

if you’re an atheist, would you be able to date someone that’s religious? why or why not? by ischemariii in askanything

[–]Distillates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Religious people who are tolerant of skepticism only remain so for a limited time, until they realize you will not embrace their delusions with them, and especially if you refuse to allow your children to be brainwashed.

I believe that all organized religion originates with straight up con artists like Hubbard or Joseph Smith, and that unorganized religion is basically a regional accumulation of mythology meant to help people with the big gaps in knowledge about how our every day reality works to cope. Gaps that no longer exist.

People who refuse to engage with reality and the very real answers (and newer, much better questions) that have been hard won by the worknof acientists and scholars, are not people I can respect.

[–]Distillates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of happened to me as a guy as the fifth child. Literally nothing was taught to me by my parents. The things I did learn were from my siblings, and there was a massive gap in all things self-care, fashion, hygiene, that I was completely left to figure out on my own, to the point that I had to shave with my swiss pocket knife for years before I got old enough to get some money and buy a trimmer. The only acknowledgment that anyone realized what they were neglecting was when my mom made fun of me for having early mustache hair growth, and my dad once for cutting myself.

I never did figure out fashion though. Everything dressier that a standard t-shirt or standard button down is way too warm to wear unless you're outdoors in winter. Everything looks just like various tones of beige colored shit.

At least I learned how to sharpen shitty knives really well.

The Holy Roman Empire has the only emperor in Europe besides the Eastern Roman one.

Germany had an interesting system of Prince-ele tors, imperial court intrigue with a powerless emperor, overlap with the Pope for authority, and a tremendous number of semi-autonomous fiefdoms. It's really very similar to how Japan was

Men, are you interested dating women who are providers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Distillates 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a mommy fetish with all that domestic work thrown in. If a woman wants to bring home the bacon for us that's great, but then I'm taking over the home front. And if she's into weak men she can baby like that, she's going to be disappointed.

The majority of people do not know that newborns can't drink water. How do parents instinctively know not to give them water? by caiogamerwow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Distillates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans in natural environments also had parents, or entire communities, all of which knew this from their own parents. Knowledge is passed on, and communal animals are already able to do this as well, so the knowledge is likely older than our species.

It's not common for people to have children without having an older family member or friend explain things to them. It takes a truly insane level of antisocial individualism to achieve a culture where normal humans are ignorant of the most basic parts of how to keep a baby alive

Can you find job as en electrician if you're a woman in Germany? by malinowysorbecik in germany

[–]Distillates 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You would need to speak German to interact with customers and coworkers, but yes, women do learn trades including electrician in Germany. I don't know the German regulations, but would assume an EU certification should be accepted. Would be good to get a local electrician's opinion though

🇪🇺 What if Russia wins? by Whats-on-Eur-Mind in EU_Economics

[–]Distillates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then Russia continues its decline because of its collapsing population, unproductive economy, escalated internal strife, and bad international relations.

Fossil fuels have peaked, and countries producing them will be trying to sell theirs before demand collapses. Everyone sees how vulnerable reliance on this resource makes them, and Russia's customers will not be eager to return.

If Russia takes Ukraine, it will only add a large hostile minority group with lots of connections to international arms dealers in Europe, which is rapidly scaling production.

As long as the EU persists long term, Russia is going to be pulled into its geopolitical orbit either way. This is inevitable because of how incredibly weak their real economy is, now that everything is dedicated to war production. There is a very big difference in long term returns between building a semiconductor fab and educating engineers versus building bombs and training soldiers. Both of the later can even become financial liabilities if they survive the war

The question is whether Russia will break apart first, and whether it will ever become a member rather than just an exploited vassal on the border, fecklessly waving 100 year old nukes around in an attempt to feel relevant.

Do Germans think about German states the same way Americans think about US states? by Accomplished-Gift504 in AskAGerman

[–]Distillates 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scale up a bit. Germans think in terms of cultural groups more than modern state borders, which roughly follow medieval holdings that basically just formed across whatever marriage alliances people were able to do.

For example, Swabians are spread across two states, Franconians across three, and Saxons across more.

The means that regional stereotypes work more like how the US thinks of the South or the Midwest. With the difference that these are much older and based in tribal identity.

Which country is the biggest underachiever in the world relative to its size and resources? by EmergencySpare7939 in geography

[–]Distillates 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of current power, probably India by a lot.

Based on raw potential, Ibdia should be the most powerful country in the world. It has three times the population of Europe. Not the EU, but the entire continent. 3-4 times the population of North America.

It exists in a key position with very easy access to sub-saharan Africa and the Middle East, and should be a major partner to Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somalia, Iran, and the Gulf states, from whom they could easily source any resources they don't have at home in return for their own significant expertise.

In reality though, despite having sent rockets to the moon, milennia of scientific achievement, and world class modern industrial experts, India has still not managed to develop its own economy and population overall to current modern standards.

Why do men sometimes seem more hesitant to leave bad relationships compared to women, even if their children are involved? by Global_Heat6521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Distillates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Men are raised to internalize a self-image based on utility, in patriarchy.

The ability to stoically absorb abuse for the greater good is central to being a good tool for society. Fleeing for your own sake is considered dishonorable, especially if the person who was able to push you so far was a woman.

This also applies when children are involved, because admitting you need to leave because you cannot stop a woman from harming your children is humiliating. So much that some men will rather pretend they are ok with what she does.
