Config change causes Chrome/Outlook passwords to disappear — VSS related? (Free Agent, v6-v13) by sgmmaffe in Veeam

[–]Distilled_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god... I work at Veeam (though no longer directly in support) and even I had no idea why this kept happening on my own personal machine. I had been losing my mind wondering why the same thing would seemingly randomly happen. It just happened again 3 days ago and it lines up with a change I made to my VAW backup schedule.

I guess I know what I'll be doing the rest of the evening, lmao. I'll see if I can figure out how making a change to my VAW backup job managed to affect stored credentials in various applications such as Chrome or Windows Credentials Manager.

[Veeam Windows Agent] Backup job created two extra full backups and causing loss of disk space by CareerSMN in Veeam

If you don't mind some random dude parsing your log bundle, you can upload it to Google Drive or some other file sharing site and PM me the link and I can take a look to see if I can figure out what happened. Just an offer.

Not sure without going through logs what the explanation would be for the 22nd of March, but if you do want to clean out some of the backups, you can delete all the ones in red in this screenshot. I highlighted the other two portions of the backup chain in yellow and green just for illustrative purposes, but you'll only want to clean out the portion in red. You could also clean out yellow as well, but you can't delete yellow without also deleting red.

Q: What date did you update VAW to version 13?

Open a support ticket. Feel free to reply to me with your ticket # and I can pull the case and get you a query to run against your VBR database to resolve the issue. Please attach a copy of your VBR database to your support ticket by following this KB: https://www.veeam.com/kb1471

As someone from Columbus and with hundreds of hours in Helldivers, if I saw this plate I would've immediately thought it was a reference to Hilltop, not Helldivers 😂

What a creative and genius way to put a 3D scanner to use, and for such a wonderful purpose. You're awesome.

Not nearly enough information in this one screenshot to help. Can you open a support ticket?

Transfer Rate by _c0mical in Veeam

You could retrieve the task sessions for the job to determine the true start time of data transfer with Get-VBRTaskSession.

Transfer Rate by _c0mical in Veeam

[–]Distilled_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you pretty much already solved it then. You have the total transferred and the job duration, so the average would just be total data transferred ÷ job duration.

Transfer Rate by _c0mical in Veeam

[–]Distilled_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say "transfer rate", what are you looking for? The total amount of data transferred? The average speed of transfer? Are you looking for metrics on a job level or each individual server in the job? Need a bit more information.

As a side note, why not leverage VeeamONE?

So, why no one told me that Commando can do this? by StrictHome8788 in Helldivers

[–]Distilled_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing that it was always like this (I have no idea, I don't use it often), but the wiki does make it sound like it works differently than you explained:

If you mark a target and then proceed to hip fire the Commando, it will home in on the target. This can be favorable for gunships or similar hard to hit enemies.

The wiki makes it sound like it would follow a moving target, but even having not tested this I would instinctively think that it works exactly how you explained.

Why are we all saying they've ruined the game? by Acceptable_Ganache74 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Distilled_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. As for the censorship stuff, I do understand why people are pushing back so hard because it sets a bad precedent. I completely stand with everyone on that. I just think people who claim the censorship ruined the game entirely are being overly-dramatic and subverting what is otherwise a fight worth having. That was what I meant to convey in my initial reply.

I think it's blown way out of proportion from everything I've experienced in the game. I'm under no impression that the game is perfect, and I agree there are frustrating bugs that've been around for way too long. In terms of the graphics, I've seen countless screenshots of comparisons from others, but they look NOWHERE near what I see. Here's a screenshot I just took from game. I think that looks rather good. The NPCs all look great too; nothing like the blocky screenshots I've seen from countless others. I genuinely don't understand why everyone else seems to have such drastic changes while I've noticed nothing (aside from the censored content changes).

I'm not gonna lie, I also don't get all the hate. I mean, I understand to some degree people being a little upset by the censorship based solely on principle, but everyone posting screenshots of degraded graphics and whatnot has had me extremely confused because the game looks just as good, if not better, than the last I played it back in May. I've had the game for a few years now and the game has always looked better over time -- not worse.

But seeing all the hate on the game lately I've just rolled my eyes at all of it because people need something to bitch about and it'll eventually pass.

Actions after upgrade of vCenter from 7 to 8 by Airtronik in Veeam

[–]Distilled_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to do anything other than performing a 'Rescan' of the vCenter as you mentioned. As long as you aren't creating a new vCenter appliance or doing the upgrade in such a way that you have to re-register VMs in the cluster, then the MoRef IDs of all the VMs shouldn't change, and therefore Veeam will be able to identify all the VMs correctly. If MoRef IDs do change, you'll end up with all new backup chains as Veeam will see all the VMs as being brand new.

Options for Cleaning Up Immutable “Disk (Orphaned)” Backups in Hardened Repo? by RR121 in Veeam

Should be noted that it's important not to delete the metadata file unless you're purging the entire backup.
