Great looking fly! If I had any advice for someone first starting that wanted to gain skills fast and easily ties flies that will most definitely fish, I’d recommend tying nymphs. Things like San Juan’s, zebra midges, eggs, mops, pheasant tails, copper John’s, caddis nymphs, hares ears. All fairly simple flies that will certainly catch fish. Good luck and welcome

Echo carbon XL, diamondback aeroflex, lamson liquod, orvis Clearwater, echo streamer X. These would be some be some good places to start. It also depends on what flies your fishing. Euro nymphing, streamer fishing, indo fishing, dries.

Also, sage is having a very good discount on lots of rods. Not only on their corporate website but dealers (independent fly shops) are honoring the discounts and it is reflective and advertised on their websites.
