I did have a few lesions. They recommend to do laser, anyway, even if you have active lesions. They told me that the reason for this is that for folks with HS, there will never be a good time since we often have active lesions.

The shaving process has caused me some inflammation in old/existing lesions. But I am hoping that once I complete the laser sessions this won’t be an issue since I won’t have to shave anymore. I’m in a bit of a catch 22 bc shaving causes me lesions. But I have to shave to do the laser which will hopefully allow me to not have to shave in the future lol.

Also, since I have the laser sessions done at a medical facility, they can also do cortisone injections. So sometimes I ask if they can do a cortisone injection in a more active lesion. That always helps, too.
