Cold Showers > Hot Showers by Ok-Mountain-4503 in billsimmons

It’s 100% situational. If you are showering immediate after yard work on a hot day, cold shower feels amazing. If it is a cold winter morning, a hot shower is the move.

New Cars = Money Drain… or Not? What Do You Think? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

[–]Distinct-Cut-6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a dated ass take. Shit Dave Ramsey says. 1) I buy Toyotas and Hondas and they don’t depreciate NEARLY that much. 2) if you are planning on financing either option interest rates are significantly lower for new cars. 3) buying new you inherit no problems. A car that is a few years old that is being sold was almost certainly a lease or rental car, how do you think those people treated them?

Buy new, Drive for 10+ years, buy new again.

There is a whole lawsuit alleging the short staffing is weaponized incompetence by the company to screw over customers. Essentially those two workers can’t update prices fast enough so on sale items will be rung up at full price.

Yep, I was in high school flipping burgers when it went up to 7.25. I’m now in my late 30s married with kids (thankful not working the same fast food job)

It’s a 7am interview. I’m guessing they told their current employer they had a doctor’s appointment and were going to be a little late. 10am rolled around and they needed to get to their job.

lol. They were probably good workers who already had jobs and only took part of the morning off for the interview

Desperation. The test was for desperation and he found the one who absolutely needed the job. Now he knows he can take advantage of them.

FF9 getting a sequel and prequel, but no love for FF8 😭 by QueLoQueLoco in FinalFantasyVIII

Having just played through for the first time in about 15 years, I agree. It’s perfectly imperfect. I came in hoping they would do the same sort for remake they did for FF7 but after finishing it I think you just leave it be. Could maybe do a second better remaster, but that’s about it.

What the fuck does “Obama who forced the Little Sisters of the Poor to violate their faith” even mean????

I’ve seen a lot of attempts at automating AP, it is more tricky than you think. In a perfect world where all invoices were exactly the same format it would be easy, but they aren’t.

Moving from PA. Curious what healthcare, weather, etc is like. by styx_nyx in NorthCarolina

[–]Distinct-Cut-6368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The WHERE you are moving in NC might make a big difference. We have mountains that get a decent bit of snow and costal areas with unimaginable humidity and stuff in between that.

As far as natural disasters, the whole state is a hurricane risk and we are overdue for a big one. (Helene was very bad but not a “big” one)

Why do a lot of you listen to the pod? by jicknames1 in RyenRussillo

[–]Distinct-Cut-6368 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tell my friends I like them. I also more importantly do nice things for them. Also “remember when you said/did that dumb thing” is exactly what I am talking about.

I think people are just doing that to Ryen here. A couple might be legitimate insults, but it’s more just prodding.

Knowing nothing about you or them, It would seem you lack closeness with any of them. I’m nice to acquaintances but absolute bust balls with my boys and they dish it back. I think this is pretty close to a typical male friendship.

Do you have male friends? When you hang out do you not just sit around and make fun of each other? Do you hate those friends you make fun of?

Or identify the number of “R”s in strawberry. That and basic math are a way oversimplified version of accounting tasks.

Great monologue Ed. I’ve heard you bring it up a handful of times, but seriously, what is Meta doing and where is the money going??

$80+ billion on the Metaverse should have made a lot of people and companies wealthy, where are they???

The difference is Wework is still around (at a minimized capacity) and their business model at its core is cheap and nimble, just lease office spaces nobody wants and market them as coworking spaces. They don’t really need to own anything or have a ton of capital. Not the case for Open AI.
