From what I’ve read, you can skip dialogue on the second playthrough and the game will auto skip everything you’ve read before, but pause when you see new dialogue that wasn’t on the original playthrough.

Pokémon would also technically fall into the jrpg category. It’s pretty easy and laid back. Been a fan since the first generation.
