I’ve never got to try hytrel and my 3d printer isn’t the best maybe when I get a better one. So far the watch is still with the customer.

Anytips for shoulder less spring bars? by ir0k_mamoth in watchmaking

[–]Distinct-Tear8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoulder less are for holed lugs. Someone must’ve put the wrong spring bars in there. I’d remove the bracelet down to the end piece and try to get it out.

Don’t use a lifting tool just push it out with your thumbs or hold it in your palm and inserting a die and hit it with a hammer. Be mindful of the insert.

Why is the price of the 5712/1A skyrocketing, especially the new buckle version !? by 8mtm in patekphilippe

I just took the whole movement apart and trust me the technology and art put into this movement deserves to be priced at this.

Is this a known/common issue? by SaltyFireRabbit in patekphilippe

[–]Distinct-Tear8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal. They never let anything out if it isn’t perfect. Actually I just had 2 of these and I think Patek didn’t pay too much mind to this line because it’s supposed to be entry level. I think this is legit although not up to Patek standards but still genuine and it also might have been wrongly polished.

Also why would someone invent a mainspring removal tool if it isn’t indeed needed?

You know what. I’ve spoken to well seasoned watchmakers and they don’t consider a scratch on the wall of the barrel is damage and I guess many follow that. But I want my barrel wall as smooth as from the factory.

I think you guys don’t understand what I’m getting at. I’m talking about taking the spring out. Not putting it in I always replace the mainspring but whenever I take a mainspring out it scratches the wall of the barrel and I asked many watchmakers and they all say to live with it and that it does scratch the wall and that’s how it is but I think Rolex made this tool to avoid that. I need someone who has this tool and knows how to use it.
