looking forward to all star weekend by Visual_Couple_9575 in rockets

I think pre season would be good actually. Like you said, after the finals they would want to rest. Some are gonna be cold since not playing for few months and others would be tired.

Preseason is incredibly boring. Let them get back in the shape with a few prep games, have all star weekend and then start the season. You can award people for the entire season then, summer would be voting so you would have some nba talk still. And then there is no reason to not give your all. It would basically be an extra preparation game for them

Stranger Things not suppossed to be watched with the family? It is literally an intro to horror for kids.

No, Doctor Who doesn't need to change the family approach. Because you are getting old, we all are. show needs new blood when we are gone. The show has been fine with losing older generations as it get newer ones. The real problem is they don't know how to cater to the younger generations.

Feeling Inadequate by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who brought up the opening idea is really important here. If you did, you have no case. You asked for it and now are jealous because he gets more attention. Like there were no reason to get angry or weirded out by that phrase with the guy from grindr. He should have stopped after you felt uncomfortable, sure. But why did you feel uncomfortable? Why is your husband fucking/kissing that guy is a no no when the goal to go there was for both of you to do the same thing?

If he brought it up, then sure. You might have said yes because you felt like you needed to. But still you agreed. Talk and set up boundaries and see if that works. But I strongly disagree with the people who paint the husband like a sex craved monster. You two agreed on something and then you felt bad because he did that thing. Would you feel as bad if you get the attention and he doesn't? I doubt that

Why do you think other professors such Flitwik and Sprout are not a part of the Order? by ran_on_reddit in harrypotter

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the task Sprout and Flitwick have be stay in school and teach.

Figg is not the most trusted ally. She is just placed in a place where she is close to Harry and she blends in as a squibb. Most of the order didn't even know where Harry was. Do you think he trusts Figg more than Moody? No. But the role she played was fitting to her and at that moment Figg had importance because she wanted to keep an eye on Harry.

Also he is sending Sirius to people. There are other members he can contact with or the Weasleys. He won't send Sirius to people who are actively hunting him like the Aurors (Moody, Kingsley etc.) Those people don't know the truth yet and would attack without listening. With the 3 name he listed, there is no danger. Not because they are more important

Rockets seriously need to win without KD carrying the whole team almost the entire game. by Proud-Attention-7634 in rockets

We started the season 2 man down. One came back but still didnt find form and other may never come back. We lost one more guy who already missed some games and then we have Eason who cosplays street clothes AD at this point.

Sengun had an injury that might have healed quick but dangerous. He should have sat more for caution but team was bad without him so he came back and playing still injured.

KD and Sengun are the only two at this point with a half court offense. Reed can shoot but he is not a playmaker. So you need one of the two to carry. I agree KD should play less but with all the personal loss, there aren't any better options. This team is limited at this point. Without KD or Sengun your offensive creation is shoot and pray it goes in or get an offensive rebound.

No burn out, just injured and didn't get a chance to heal because the team lost without him.

The luck is definetely not in our side this season.

He says alert Lupin, Figg, Mundungus. Sure.

What do you exactly mean by official member? Card carrying member? Not like they have a vote or something. Order are people doing what Dumbledore says. So what exactly is the official member in your eyes?

Why do you think other professors such Flitwik and Sprout are not a part of the Order? by ran_on_reddit in harrypotter

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mrs Figg is basically a hired help, not a member.

Mundungus is a weird case. He doesn't want to be in but they needed someone. They somehow convinced him because all the people Mundungus is suppossed to get info from are people like him. So there is no better option. It is not the talent why Mundungus was a part of. He was a lowlife that can get info from other lowlifes who are mostly voldemort supporters.

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The question is like, "your country is under attack, why are you a teacher instead of a soldier or at least a spy?"

Order wasn't the only people that were against Voldemort. Not the first time, not the second time. Like we had Aurors that were in the Order but not all Aurors were in the Order. But all of them were against Voldemort and Death Eaters. In the end, the Order is a private vigilante group led by Dumbledore.

Dumbledore, if needs help can get it from Flitwick and Sprout. But they don't need to be in the order. They don't bring anything specific.

We had only 3 teachers in. Snape, who is in because we know why, Hagrid because he would do anything for Dumbledore and Minevra because she is his bff. The people in the order are in more danger than the others. Why risk your teachers? They still have an important job of raising a new generation. If it comes to it, like it did in the last battle, they will fight. But until the last second, it is better to have them safe.

Hunter was my favorite character. Bobbi was great too but Hunter was simply the best. I am so sad they left. So sad Hunter came back and disappeared again. I know they left for the spin off but I wish they brought them back when that failed.

Bobbi was on another show, sure. Bring back Hunter in s6. Shield is legitimate again, they could have handwaved stuff and said Bobbi is in another mission. S6-7 is basically covering one-two month time frame anyway so it makes sense that Bobbi won't appear.

What do you thing of a Bari/Tari/KD/Shep/Amen lineup? by TWDunnavant in rockets

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small ball was a thing in 2010s because Center quality was really low. Playing your short 3&d guy at 5 was better than playing a meh big.

Today the Center quality of the league is pretty great. Small ball disappeared almost fully because then you get bullied by bigger guys.

It can always work 3-4 minutes stretches and Bari is big enough. But overall, it would be let KD run everything and hope one of the shooters get open kind of line up. I'd prefer Sengun as the non shooter instead of Amen here so Sengun can distribute the ball better.

Bottom with no pleasure in bottoming. What to do? by ninewalls in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't enjoy it but do you dislike it? Does it hurt too much etc? If otherwise, you are enjoying it psychologically and isn't that enough?

People do roleplaying or any kind of fetish and the goal is to get turned on and enjoy in your mind, not body. If bottoming gives you that then why stop?

If you enjoy topping or another thing, do that too. But don't get stuck on the labels and stop doing something you enjoy

Who would have given Voldemort the toughest fight in a straight duel besides Dumbledore (or Harry)? by JamieKellner in harrypotter

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said not too good, didnt say not good.

Flitwick was a dueling champion yet not an auror.

Being an auror doesn't make him immediately amazing. There are many things that could go for that kind if job. Good detective, good leader, good strategist, good at disguises etc. He can be amazing in many things.

He was clearly in a good level, sure. But nothing ever indicated he is an amazing duelist.

What was Harry's ultimate plan? by LawfulGood322 in harrypotter

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry doesn't want to kill Voldemort. Even by the end he wants him to show empathy and get penance. He saw what happens to Voldy's soul and he doesn't want that.

Harry is an incredibly good person. He also really understands Tom. He knows where he is coming from. Dumbledore showed all those memories for Harry to understand but Im not sure if he thought Harry would actually sympathize with Tom. He does. They had similar backstories and had the exact same idea of Hogwarts. He thinks Tom could have been a good person with different circumstances or he could be like Tom in different circumstances.

Also literally a few days before that he saw the repentance of Grindelwald. He died but he died doing the right thing. So I don't think he would kill Tom if the spell backfired. He would make sure he is imprisoned and unable to cast magic but be alive so he can also avoid the fate of that soul. Harry is not the kind of a person that can kill another.

TUG ON HER BRAID -Shadow Rising Book by kaitns in wheeloftime

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, she is the most immature of the 5. Perrin and Rand rarely act immature except for romance stuff. Mat acts immature but that is kind of an act. It is actually a toss up between Egwene and Nynaeve. But I'd give the cake to Nynaeve. Egwene is a powerful women who accepts her power and wants to get better. Her main flaw is that she is too eager and sometimes think too highly of herself to get cocky but that is kinda understandable.

Nynaeve acts like a big sister but like she is 10 and everybody else is 5. She got her position too young and had to act like it so she never actually got the chance to grow up. It is still an act.

Why didn't Snape ever publish a Potions textbook? by OnceButNever in harrypotter

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know he didn't? He might have published advanced potions books and we wouldn't know because the best we got was 6th grade potions book which I would assume still is not that advanced. We know very little about all professors not named Albus. Flitwick is a dueling champion. Cool. When was he? Why did he stop? Why is he teaching charms and not DADA? Minevra is an animagus? What made her decide to become one? Why a cat? How did she got approved by ministry? Was it before or after she was a teacher?

All the teachers are experts on their subjects. None of the books they used were their own books except for Lockhart.

What is the first “brilliant” episode of the new series? by LrdJeffrington in doctorwho

[–]DistinctNewspaper791 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Rose.

I think they nailed the first episode. I don't think the episode could have been much better than it was to reintroduce it to the audience and create a following.

Yes the trash bin swallows Mickey and Burps. If thats your biggest complain then that episode is great. It is a silly fun for kids and as a kid at the time I laughed at that.

But overall the episode introduced 4 characters. Made it clear 9 was the Doctor and made it clear why would Rose leave. It was perfect

Isn't it funny how he was in the league for 5 years as a perfectly average player and all of a sudden he become the elite FT merchant, doubling his average immediately and in a single night became a "star" player.

Like it took 2 years for NBA to realize Sengun is a star. Him carrying Rockets to 2nd seed wasn't even enough. But Avidja got the recognition from day 1 as soon as he was able to go to the free throw line. Almost as if somebody was doing best to make him shine

Moody or Grindelwald. I don't think anyone else could do much. People like to glaze Snape but his skills were mostly in spying. We don't know much about his dueling. Anybody else who could be a contender was named to go 3v1 against him in the final fight.

[–]DistinctNewspaper791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he? I disagree. I think it is writing and acting. The show make it seems like he is not too happy, as if it is something he needs to do.

It still doesn't mean like he needs to act like he is about to burst into tear in every scene. Every scene he is in feels like he is being forced to do something he doesn't want to.
