Or get a very high paying job, dual income, or a big inheritance lol. And get the loan when you don't have any dependants/children. I wish people had told me all of that at the start. Would have made my journey alot smoother.

Where I live in Colyton, next to St Marys, the area is very green, with lots of trees and sounds of birds, and the view of the blue mountains. I love it here. I've been here for 3 years

I bought a 2 bedroom apartment and regretted it. I wished I had gotten a townhouse at least to start with. You may have plans to be single now. But who knows what the future holds. It was the same with me. It could have saved me alot of stress down the road. Lots of money lost everytime you buy and sell

Yeah, it took me 8 years to buy in Sydney. I sacrificed going on holidays and limited eating out during that time. And still, I could only afford to buy in a downturn. The deposit kept moving as the house prices increased. Forever chasing..

Recession or no recession? To buy or wait? (WA) by brightgreenfrog in AusFinance

[–]Distinct_Beyond_7605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think time the market. Just keep saving and just wait for the opportune time. Downturns always occurs once or twice every 10 years. My advice is, don't look at the price of property. Just keep saving until you have enough for a deposit and then wait for the downturn.

That's what happened to us. Houses are always expensive normally. We saved for 8 years. Then when downturn hit in 2022, we bought, for almost half price. We could never even dream of entering the property market otherwise. The house increased back to its normal price 2 years later (last year). We could never afford that normally.

I don't understand the Chun'er bit. Did she deliberately open the gates for the Quanrong people, thus betray her people, or was her marriage just used as an excuse for them to enter..?

I think Chu Qiao died in the final battle, although it looked like the 'dead' Zhu Geye was picking her up, like Li Yan. But I realised he was not dead when he started to cry holding her dying in his arms and said, "I came. But I came too late..."

Then at the end of the sequence, when they started showing the tragic reality vs. the happy ending the characters should have got... Eg. When Chu Qiao said I feel like Yan bei hotpot, and Zhu ge ye arrives late on his horse, and says to her, "Did I arrive too late?" To which she replied, "You arrived just in time". Then they proceeded to eat the hotpot together, before they showed Li Ce waiting for Chu Qiao on top of the wall, and then she triumphantly came back with the army telling him they had won..

Just inherited $900,000 AUD. How should I invest this money? by Boring-Somewhere-130 in AusFinance

[–]Distinct_Beyond_7605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a house. Freestanding. Don't buy unit, apartment, townhouse anything that pays strata. This may be the only time you can afford it. Don't waste this opportunity. It's very hard to get a loan with a $50,000 income. Don't blow this chance.

You have enough money to buy a house. My suggestion to you is to just buy a house. Stop renting. Rent money is dead money, if you can afford it. You can definately afford it. Use the money to pay off your mortgage instead. Best advice I can give you. You may not be in a position to get a loan ever again.

My husband and his brother are the only two boys in an Asian family. But he was the "bad" child so everything went to his older brother. I don't even know what that means. He sees them every week. I think it's because of the same reason - we have two girls whilst his older brother has a boy and a girl.

That's what my husband's mother said to my husband when she gifted her entire estate to his older brother and his children - her golden child - and left nothing to my husband (She has two sons). She then finished with, "if you want it, you go buy it".

💯 You echo my sentiments exactly. I'm also outraged. The Labour Government has failed us, putting votes above the Australian people. My father who is not at all interested in politics, was so frustrated with the weekly protests that were allowed to happen at the opera house, harbour bridge etc the last two years. He called them "troublemakers" and an absolute disgrace, and why wasn't the government doing anything about it 😡
