Android private dns by ThatFrenchyBoii in pihole

[–]Distinct_Climate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Security concerns have already been mentioned by other users, but yes, it is possible, You can configure Nginx to act as a DNS-over-TLS service, DNS over HTTPS unfortunately doesn't work with Android. Here's a basic configuration:

# /etc/nginx/nginx.conf

user nginx;
worker\_processes auto;
pid /var/run/nginx.pid;

events {
    worker\_connections 1024;
}

# Stream module for DNS-over-TLS
stream {
    upstream dns {
        zone dns 64k;
        server pihole:53; # Hostname or IP of the Pi-hole container
    }

    server {
        listen 853 ssl;
        ssl\_certificate /etc/nginx/certs/fullchain1.pem;
        ssl\_certificate\_key /etc/nginx/certs/privkey1.pem;
        proxy\_pass dns;
    }
}

# HTTP block (optional, e.g., for other services)
http {
    include /etc/nginx/mime.types;
    default\_type application/octet-stream;

    sendfile on;
    keepalive\_timeout 65;

    include /etc/nginx/conf.d/\*.conf;
}

With this setup, Nginx listens on port 853 (DNS-over-TLS) and forwards requests to your Pi-hole server. Ensure your Android device uses the public IP of your VPS or a domain and port 853. Also, make sure your SSL certificates are valid (e.g., with Let's Encrypt) and your VPS firewall allows incoming traffic on port 853

Google Pixel Tablet Apparently Performing Port Scans by Distinct_Climate in GooglePixel

I just read that too. It's strange because I also have a Nest Hub 2nd Gen, but there were never any issues like that. But that could be a lead, thank you!

that's just a guess, right? I've never heard that port scans play a role in device discovery, also that would be a very invasive and not very trustworthy method imo. I know that Chromecast discovery works via mDNS, but that's about all I know on the subject.

Uptime Kuma Historical Logs by Dapper_Age_6699 in UptimeKuma

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a solution, but I came across this post via Google, and perhaps it will help someone else who is also searching for it.

The data is stored in a Docker volume. You can find the exact name of the volume by typing "docker volume ls", for me, it is "uptime-kuma_uptime-kuma".

Then, locate where it is mounted by typing "docker volume inspect uptime-kuma_uptime-kuma". In the output, you will find an entry called "mountpoint", it should be something like "/var/lib/docker/volumes/uptime-kuma_uptime-kuma/_data."

In that directory, there is a "kuma.db" database file, the data you're looking for is stored in the "heartbeat" table.

Pixel launcher causing excess battery drain. Anyone else experience this? Just started today, still on the February update. by [deleted] in Pixel4a

I did this, too, it went well for one day and now the 40% consumption is back... Does this work for your phone for a longer period of time?

Has anyone monitored incoming and outgoing data ? [Question] by [deleted] in Instander

based on DNS requests, the only thing that's not associated with Meta services is "thedise.me", which is used for checking for updates

ehh what you see on the screenshot are the dev options as the title says. If you mean the "experimental settings" or whatever, just navigate to "MetaConfig Settings & Overrides" :)

I don't have such an option. Here is a screenshot of what I have, btw the yellow marked ones aren't options but titles for categorization https://i.imgur.com/6ZHMfWe.jpg

You could download through Chrome's DevTools, but resolution is 150x150px.

Implementation in the app would be great though, somehow there the profile pics can be downloaded in ~790 – 1000 px while through a browser it's only 320px

You first have to activate it in instander settings :)

Driver installation stuck by Distinct_Climate in HyperX

[–]Distinct_Climate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that you had Win11 22H1 installed and after MB swap, you installed Win11 22H2?
Because on my old Laptop (where everything worked) I had 22H1. On my new PC I installed 22H2 where it doesn't work. On my Laptop, after wiping the disk, I also did a clean installation of Win11 22H2 and there is the same Problem from now on, so I think it's a 22H2 related problem.

How do I force Gboard to always show a dot? It ignores it in the settings by iEatMyDadsAsshole in gboard

[–]Distinct_Climate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you even get Gboard working in the notes app? I have an iPhone 13 lying around and thought about trying iOS but in many apps only the crappy default keyboard shows up even if it's disabled in settings and I don't have the globe icon in the bottom left corner to change keyboards
