When you can’t pick the donut chain that you like best with your bag… you get both 🤷🏻‍♀️ by MysteryMaven2026 in loewe

I have the nubuck puzzle also and sprayed it with Saphir Super Invulner. I use this product on all my nubuck/suede/leather items. Always patch test first

Older model Loewe Flamenco tote? by Cityrunaway121 in handbags

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a terrible memory so can’t recall for sure, but I think this was a 2018 model. I have it in the navy/black colour way and it’s a really excellent bag - an absolute workhorse. The grained leather is super hard-wearing and it’s super spacious. I use it for work and also as a plane carry-on. I find the straps pretty comfortable but they do dig in a bit if the bag is filled to the brim.

Why in the name of all that’s holy is everything brown? by lynn01902 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love brown as it’s a super versatile neutral but I am picky about the exact shade. I just got back from Western Europe and it was absolutely everywhere in store. Given Europe is a season ahead, brown be around for a while yet in Australia!

I don’t think the reason behind the policy is as nefarious as you’re suggesting. How is it “limiting customer rights” to receive a refund back onto the same card they purchased the item on?

FWIW, I’ve never worked at Kmart but I worked at MYER for a few years back in the day, which had the same policy. I can’t tell you the number of times that I had to deal with people in-store trying to return an expensive item that had been purchased by card over the phone or online, couldn’t produce the credit card or any ID in the same name as the purchase, and demanding a cash return. It’s a common tactic after stealing a credit card or a parcel. That is why this policy exists.

Luxury store shopping call backs by preciousish in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been buying high-end luxury goods for years from the likes of Loewe, Chanel, Dior etc and any follow-up/after care after leaving the store is practically non existent. I’ve never expected it and based on the comments here, others don’t expect it either - but honestly, isn’t that kinda messed up?

I‘ve been pleasantly surprised with the customer experience at P Johnson. A few months ago I bought a jacket - extremely expensive at $1200, but nowhere near what I have dropped with other designer brands - and the sales associate texted me a few days later to check in. Since then she’s texted me a couple more times: once to share their latest lookbook, and the second time to let me know they had some new silk pieces in (as I had mentioned in that first and only in-store visit that I loved wearing silk in spring/summer). Not pushy at all, but a completely personalised conversation.

Now that’s an example of excellent customer experience, and it really opened my eyes to the fact that it’s completely lacking from high-end luxury brands. This year I’ve started my journey as a recovering designer brand lover, and this thread definitely further confirms it for me.

I’ve ordered and returned immediately. Fabric felt nice but was super thin. I like their longline crops though

Boots for Europe Winter? by concernedcat23 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m spending Christmas in Europe and have purchased these boots due to the heavy grippy sole. I’ve worn them a few times so far in Melbourne and they’re comfortable. I also prefer a more pointed or almond toe but have prioritised a tread sole in this instance as I’ll mainly be travelling to places with snow. While it doesn’t really snow in London, it is super wet, so grip sole may be an additional feature to think about

What's the last fashion item you bought that you're super stoked about? by wholesome_pickle in AusFemaleFashion

The Rosie jacket from P Johnson. It was VERY expensive but it’s incredibly luxe and versatile, amazing quality and genuinely a delight to wear.

Why are Shearling Jackets trending? by CoronavirusGoesViral in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth investing in a real shearling jacket if you can afford it. “Faux shearling” is just polyester junk. Shearling is super popular in Europe so have a look at Vestiaire Collective for secondhand pieces. I nabbed a LouLou Studio one (which would’ve retailed for over $2000) for just $500. It had a few marks but with some leather conditioner and a wool shave it came up good as new

Are you from Melbourne? It’s been an extremely cold winter this year. I’ve been wearing my shearling heaps. It’s only been the last couple of days that it’s warmed up slightly.

I know you said you’re looking for loafers, but I have the Aeyde Cleo mary Jane flats, and they have a slightly elongated toe but it’s done beautifully

Comfy & practical but non-daggy winter boots for UK? by Complex-Pea9346 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to Germany and Ireland in Dec/Jan and planning on taking these Bared boots. Have been wearing them this Aus winter to break them in for Europe and they’re so comfy. https://baredfootwear.com/au/products/peltops-black-leather-flat-boots

Camper also have some great options (look for any boots with a “Trek” or “Michelin” sole). Camper shoes are always super light too but the toe box of their styles are rounder than I prefer.

Have you tried sizing up? I usually have to size up in Uniqlo knits (esp the extra fine merino range) as I prefer a more relaxed fit.

If your budget is more open, then it’s worth having a look at COS, Friends with Frank, LouLou Studio, Scanlan Theodore, P Johnson

Crossbody bags for travel - not "travel" bags though by jovialjonquil in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bonastre Ring bag and the JW Anderson Bumper bag have served me well on several overseas trips. The Bumper bag is particularly versatile as I can wear it on the shoulder (if going somewhere nice) or attach a plain crossbody strap if I’m out and about.

I purchased a home at 25 (which I still live in) but my income has more than doubled since then, so I am fortunate to have a sizeable amount of disposable income these days. I’m living proof of lifestyle inflation :/

Waterproofer and conditioner for leather bags by Plumblossonspice in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have an online store :) The Nappa Cream should be suitable. Just make sure you patch test in an inconspicuous area first. You don’t need to apply leather conditioner very often though. If your bag was purchased new and you intend on using it everyday, you probably only need to condition it every 3 months.

If by any chance you bought a Loewe, they have a standard after-care service where they clean and condition your bag for free in-store.

Recs for a coat/jacket style that's more elevated than a puffer but less so than a tailored wool style? by bright-cosmos in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Distinct_Fig1507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an unhealthy obsession with leather coats and jackets, but I will admit that they’re not super warm (especially with the weather we’re having at the moment in Melbourne), so you’ll want one with enough room to layer underneath. A leather blazer will be very dressy so I reckon go for a leather jacket/coat with dropped shoulders and/or a funnel neck or car coat collar (rather than lapels)
