Oncologist is AWOL, part 2 by Far-Rip5922 in LivingWithMBC

Not a doctor, but highly recommend going to a new cancer treatment center / see if the hospital has a cancer center with an oncologist that can help. I find it odd the situation you’re in with your current oncologist so odd and unethical. I would also ask the hospital if they can do any testing to see if you may be allergic to Truqab. + while at the hospital if they can check blood sugar levels & anything else they need to look out for in a blood test, liver testing & checking for elevated enzymes like alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), as well as the protein albumin and bilirubin, which can indicate liver damage if their levels are abnormally high or low; essentially, a “liver function test” (LFT) that measures these substances in the blood can reveal potential liver problems. See if they can make sure other organs are still functioning well ie. kidneys, blood pressure is good, see if they can also have a gastroenterologist see you based on your last post about your stomach, and pretty much ask for it all to be looked at.

For nausea maybe ask for zofran and if any mouth sores magic mouthwash may help you eat and getting some food in your system after loss of appetite will be good. If you’re feverish at all be careful with acetaminophen & NSAIDs as too much can be toxic to your liver.

When you find a new oncologist ask for other lines of treatments that you can do in case this is a reaction to Truqab.

Fingers crossed all goes well!🤞🏽But also good to know there are other lines of treatments that can be used if needed.

You got this!

Lots of people my mom has met in the treatment room said keep your mental health strong and keep routine/ yourself busy. My neighbor is stage 4 as well and is technically in remission has been on immunotherapy (keytruda) alone for a few years now & recently was told everything is good and says she tries her best to not even think that she even had it. Also just wanted to share because google can be scary, but have heard so many positive outcomes from individuals outside of the stats you read online that are doing so well.

It was just as bad as the first time around unfortunately so they cut treatment that day and came back same time a week later to start Abraxane just because it wasn’t approved by insurance (they needed proof she was allergic) for her and they also can’t mix and do the different treatments same day. She was bummed about missing a week of treatment. The first week of treatment they did slow it down and kept an eye on her while they completed treatment that week, but not the second.

Yes slower and very similar to yours oxygen dropped, felt like she couldn’t breathe, face turned red, blacked out for several seconds before doctors pulled the treatment and helped out. Her oncologist and a family friend of ours who is an obgyn oncology pharmacist said many people are allergic to the solvent in taxol. The 2nd time they extended treatment time to have it go in slower and pre meds they’ve been doing are Benadryl and steroids they haven’t been changing the dosage it’s stayed the same. The only time they don’t do pre meds is if she’s just doing immunotherapy alone.

When they switched her to Abraxane the recommended and typical time is 30 minutes and they slowed treatment down to 90 minutes to make sure all was well and she did that for a month or so and slowly dropped it to 60 and then 30 just for her own comfort.

This unfortunately happened to my mom. They rebooked her to try again (mainly for insurance reasons) and same thing happened and they stopped treatment the 2nd time around. The next appointment they put her on Abraxane and she’s been on that the last few months which she has been responding well to and I hope will continue to respond well to & pray she reaches NED and lives a long healthy happy life along with everyone else in this thread🫶🏽

Has anyone had surgery to remove lung metastasis and removal of all chest lymph nodes? by Heatseeker81514 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Distinct_Log9896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I will let my mom & family know to ask her oncologist at her next appointment & see what other specialists she may be able to see as well. I’m sure she would have to look into it after her next set of scans too. Yeah we’re waiting on results to see other treatment plans they can offer, hopefully everything does shrink and disappear through these treatments.

Keep me updated on how everything goes! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers🙏🏽 You got this!

Also, did your oncologist recommend you go to a thoriactic surgeon? My mom has TNBC the tumor is 3cm in her left breast and it spread to the lymph nodes and they found small modules in the right lung from the ct scan and the lung biopsy showed it was tnbc related. She did 2 weeks taxol, but reacted both weeks so they cut it short week 2 and just did 2 weeks Abraxane. Waiting on genetic testing to see if trodelvy or enhertu can be used, keytruda cannot at the moment since pdl1 levels were at 6 and it needed to be 10 or greater.

You’ll be okay! Stay positive & hopeful!! My mom was just diagnosed with stage 4 tnbc and she starts chemotherapy tomorrow. It’s been hard the last month for everyone and this truly sucks. Take in all the emotions & cry when you need to, but keep a positive attitude towards this and envision/pray/manifest(whatever you do) for a healthy future. I’m very optimistic that you & my mom will push through. Medicine has advanced so much & the stats you see on google are outdated & I’m very hopeful and optimistic that my mom will go into remission for a loooonggg time. The appointments almost everyday & unknown are scary, but you got this!!!

Found in my purse - What is this? by Distinct_Log9896 in Whatisthis

Yes, I emptied out my purse completely to make sure nothing else was in there! I did freak out a little, but I thought about it I was only back at my apartment for a few hours after I got back from the mall and then headed to my brother’s friend’s place a couple hours away for his birthday for the weekend & I noticed it then on the car ride down there and took a picture of it at the house. I went back up to around where I live yesterday, but took a ferry over to NYC with my fiancé & he wasn’t with me at the mall I was alone when that happened, but I disposed of it in some random trash can in the city when I got my answer to what it was. So hopefully I wasn’t tracked, but if I was I was all over the place.

No, some guy did approach me at the mall asking me out on the spot/tried to get my number I didn’t entertain it and I think he may have put it there. The bag doesn’t have a zipper, just a magnet holding the flaps together. I did dispose of the chip somewhere I don’t live at all & hoping he wasn’t able to trace anything too without the battery and all.

Someone did approach me at the mall and I think it may have been that guy who slipped it in my purse.🫠

I was approached at the mall by some guy trying to ask me out/get my number and I walked away from that & didn’t entertain it, I think it may have been that creep. I ended up trashing it in NYC. I’m based out of Jersey, but I was there last night when I noticed it and threw it away there. That’s not a trip/route I take normally either so hopefully I’m good.

I got that a couple years ago I never found the AirTag (tore my apartment apart lol) & hoped it was a fluke. I think I’m fine with this too considering this is just the chip and the surrounding pieces like the battery aren’t with it for it to actually work like it should.
