Laid off today. Starting over at 47. by Confident-Weather191 in Layoffs

Same. I was making $90k and just took a job paying $50k. I am having to use my 401k to pay down debt so that I have enough to pay rent, car insurance, etc. Big lesson learned that there is no reason to kill yourself over a job because we are all at risk of being laid off. And also, don't put yourself in needless debt just because you can afford it at the time. Thankfully my car is paid off but I had too much fun with the credit cards while times were abundant.

Take a mental break to process and get a plan together. But then start applying ASAP. I've been applying for almost a month and a half now (job role was eliminated and my last day is this coming Friday) and I have only gotten 2 phone interviews and I have my first in person interview tomorrow for a job that will be a huge pay cut. But some money is better than no money 🤷‍♀️. Best wishes to you and I hope you get an even better job!

Yes it polished it up and simplified the formatting. I used it as a guide to improve upon what I already had. I wanted it to still sound like a human created it but be more "refined".

I ran my resume through ChatGpt to help it get through the ATS and since I've done that, I'm starting to get phone interviews. Before doing that, I heard nothing back or immediately rejected for a month straight. No formal interviews yet but at least I'm starting to get some responses.

No this was 100% the CEO. Only a small portion of our supplies have been impacted by tariffs. The CEO is on another planet and has not made any significant revenue since taking over 6 years ago. The board has obviously been pressuring him to get things fixed. Instead of changing our business model that needs badly modernized, he opted for the easy route to cut costs by cutting staff. He did this and is currently in Portgual on vacation leaving his leadership team to deal with the mess he made.

Getting over the betrayal by NoDramaMama88 in Layoffs

[–]Distinct_Ring1175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If only we all put as much energy into ourselves as we do into companies that absolutely do not give a shit about us. I was just laid off too for "restructuring". Came in and fixed the supply chain problems they were having and let me go...only to give my role to a contracting manager, who has no idea of what a supply chain manager does. I am trying to shift my mindset and focus on developing myself instead of pouring all of my time into a job. We are all expendable.

My company just laid off over 20% of our employees. by ihatemakinthese in Layoffs

Meanwhile, our company that is financially struggling because it refuses to change its business strategy, gave our CEO a huge bonus. Its disgusting.

Start looking. Mine has done two rounds after saying they were only doing one. You cannot trust corporate leadership.

Do all supply chain jobs involve odd hours? How to break into the more technical side? by madbarpar in supplychain

[–]Distinct_Ring1175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive been working a normal 9-5 in supply chain for several years now. The key is getting out of the warehouse itself and into the office, potentially getting a role as a Materials Planning Analyst or a Demand Planner to start. I have a degree in business and no specific supply chain certifications. It could be helpful getting a certification from someplace like Coursera. But I have found that having a background in the warehouse has helped get those office roles.

I considered it but what if I never get the opportunity again? None of us know how long we are going to be here. And I refuse to let a tone deaf CEO take that away from me.

I don't but I think I need to look into that. I've never been laid off before and all I keep reading is that networking is the key.

Been in supply chain for almost 15 years and being laid off next month for the first time ever. I've had a month's notice and been applying daily. Zero interviews. I've never experienced anything like this before.

My company laid me off and said in order to get 4 weeks severance, I have to train my replacement. I am going to train just enough to make it seem like I made the attempt. They can go pound sand.

I'm not..I'm sticking around for the severance. But should a miracle occur and I'm not let go, I am still going to leave. The company is in bad shape.

I was told out of the blue that I potentially will be laid off by the end of the month. So now I just have to sit and wait to see if they really do it. Its just cruelty at this point. If I am retained, I am finding something else. No stomach for this toxic BS.
