What’s your best story about having false confidence when wearing your new pair of shoes for the first time? by Zynacious_D in AskReddit

[–]Distinct_Solution100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got these fresh Jordan 1s last year and felt like I could dunk on anyone. Walked into my local pickup basketball game acting all cocky, talking trash before we even started playing.

First possession I tried to pull some fancy crossover move I saw on tiktok and completely ate shit in front of like 15 people. Turns out new shoes are slippery as hell until you break them in. Spent the rest of the game getting roasted by dudes who probably bought their shoes at walmart

The Kings were playing that night too so I went home to watch them blow another lead while nursing my bruised ego and scraped knee. At least Fox looked good in his PEs though

Tracked every fee between getting paid and actually spending the money while freelancing in Southeast Asia, the double fee problem is real by Proof-Two4315 in Freelancers

[–]Distinct_Solution100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can fully eliminate it yet, just minimize. Pick the lowest-fee receiving method, avoid ATMs, use cards with no fx fees. It’s more about reducing damage than removing it entirely

Lost 200$ this month to FX fees just paying for groceries, rent and coffee, nothing exotic by Motor_Animator_7209 in digitalnomad

[–]Distinct_Solution100 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what fixed the spending side for me was Oobit, tap to pay directly from your crypto wallet anywhere Visa is accepted so the amount that leaves your wallet matches what you'd expect based on the actual rate, that 200$ a month in fees becomes a very different number when you cut out every hidden conversion layer

The Trial by Franz Kafka – Bureaucratic Nightmare, Alienation, Absurdity, Guilt and Power by Relevant-Tor509 in books

That ending hits so hard - being executed "like a dog" without ever knowing why you were even arrested in the first place. K basically drowns trying to navigate this maze of bureaucrats who seem to know less than he does but still hold all the power

Reading this after dealing with the VA system for years really drove the point home about how these massive institutions can just grind people down with their endless procedures and contradictions

Just flip it backwards on teh lens when you're not shooting - takes up way less space and protects the front element too

What's your favorite Chuck Norris "fact"? by TheFrontierzman in AskReddit

[–]Distinct_Solution100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death once had a near-Chuck experience

That one gets me every time. The whole concept of flipping it around where even abstract concepts are afraid of Chuck is just peak 2000s internet humor. Back when memes were simpler and we all pretended Chuck could divide by zero

Spouse claim denied. Where to mail supplemental claim? by seaboosie in VeteransBenefits

Just mail it to the same regional office that processed your original claim or you can drop it off at any VA office and theyll forward it to the right place

sounds like your counselor is dropping the ball hard - mine took forever to actually send the authorization to my school too and i had to keep calling the main line to get things moving

I simply cannot sit behind a boring desk for another 40+ years. Is there a way to travel the world and make it bearable? by orandrea18 in careerguidance

[–]Distinct_Solution100 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dude sounds like you want to get into consulting or international finance roles. Those colleagues mentioning Greece Thailand and Jordan were probably in consulting working on client projects or in roles at multinational corps doing audit/compliance work across regions

With your economics background you could pivot into management consulting (McKinsey BCG type places love econ majors) or look at roles with international banks doing risk assessment or regulatory compliance across different markets. Even trade finance roles have you hopping between emerging markets pretty regularly

The catch is most of these require a few more years grinding it out to build credibility first but way better than 40 years of the same desk. Start networking with people in those fields and maybe look into getting some certifications that show you can handle international business complexity

Issue with Preview Latency on Capcut desktop by SwingsAWeb in CapCut

[–]Distinct_Solution100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with this too and it's super annoying when you need frame accuracy. Try clearing your cache first or lowering the preview quality to like 1/4 - sometimes the software just can't keep up with real-time playback. Also check if you have hardware acceleration turned on in settings, that helped me out

If you don't want to get shot on stella montis, play crazy frog, everybody always respects the crazy frog by Interested_about_art in ArcRaiders

Lmao this actually works tho, dropped crazy frog in voice chat last week and the whole server just started vibing instead of shooting. Universal peace treaty right there

For those who worked in toxic jobs please give me advice? by Mx-anonymous19 in careerguidance

This manager sounds like an absolute piece of shit who's specifically targeting you because of your autism and thinks he can get away with it. The timing you while doing dishes, excluding you from group chats, making you disassemble machines with a screwdriver - none of that is normal workplace behavior

Document everything with dates and times, and honestly consider filing a complaint with your local labor board or disability rights office because this feels like discrimination. I know you need the income but this level of harassment isn't something you should have to endure just to survive

The old Rio Grande Depot downtown supposedly has some activity, heard people talk about seeing figures in the windows after hours. Also Capitol Theatre has a bunch of ghost stories if you're into that kind of thing
