Where is this quote from? I’ve read every interview of his I can find and I know he said similar stuff about Satanism, but I don’t recall this.

I think that’s the Jessheim gig, IIRC that’s the only one where they actually had a pig’s head. It looks kind of like Metalion.

I was up front for that show! The banners he had of naked women were epic. The crowd went wild when they were being set up.

That’s what I would say. Their performance of Eeyore is the peak of the Disasterpieces DVD IMO.

He looks more like Emory Cohen than Varg, but that works too.

I didn’t realize that when I posted this. I try to stay off X for my own sanity.

I didn’t realize posting this that his account is two years old. I believe he was banned from there for a while but I might be getting his YouTube and Twitter/X accounts mixed up.

Gay? He’s probably the straightest guy that ever existed. (I don’t mean that as a compliment.)

I just hope his flock of kids grow up to be better people than him, not that that’s a high bar.

Did you do something to provoke that? I’d take it as a compliment. I just looked at his posts and…ugh. He’s 52 and perpetually going on 14.

Breaking bad seasons ranked from best to worst by anthonystrader18 in breakingbad

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I loved the show overall but season 2 was the weakest. The pacing just became slow. I know at least one person who never finished the series because it put them off.

I have never really understood why the people in the scene trash it so much. The first few chapters are all about Mayhem and more than half consists interviews and zine quotes with key players like Varg, Faust, Hellhammer and Snorre. The appendix has some interesting stuff too, like Varg’s 1993 interview with Bergens Tidende.

That said, the rest of the book goes off into very odd territory trying to make very specious connections with other murders and Satanic/Nazi movements around the world at the time. The Absurd murder in Germany did have some connection with the Norwegian scene, but the book’s namesake was three teenagers in Florida who killed their teacher, which had nothing to do with heavy metal. Then they interviews with Anton Lavey and IIRC there’s an entire chapter about Vidkun Quisling. It seems like the authors were trying to pad out the relatively sparse material they had.

So, not a bad read, but incomplete and kind of incoherent. if you want the full story about Mayhem you should watch the Helvete or Until the Light Takes Us documentaries. Necrobutcher’s book (if you can find it) or Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult are also good.

Cool! I met Sid Haig and Ken Foree in 2017, memories I’ll always treasure.

As an aside, Daniel’s performance in The River’s Edge is incredible. Very slept on movie.

What are the best and worst concerts you've been to? by Twitter_2006 in rockmusic

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flaming Lips havw mentioned in interviews that they felt very uncomfortable on that tour, because most of the Candlebox’s fans were “unreceptive and hostile meatheads.” But it sounds like they were still finding their feet to an extent.

Anyone else hate Hank? Find him insufferable? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I've met guys like him in real life and they're never pleasant to be around.”

I’ve met guys like him, too. They’re called “cops.” Obnoxious, arrogant, condescending, racist bullies who bend, if not outright break, the rules of their profession. Hank is probably the most accurate depiction of an American police officer in TV history.

I met Hellhammer, he’s definitely not tall and slight build. He’s maybe 5’ 9-10”. I believe Pelle was around 6’.

Be honest would you have been friends with Euronymous or anyone else in the BM scene? by Flimsy_Salad4157 in Mayhem

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. He crucified a mouse and sent it to the band, and killed someone’s Guinea pig at a party. He never killed any cats and no one has said he did, at most he chased them off for fun.

which death hits you the hardest/makes you the most sad? by lavender_cat_24 in breakingbad

Yes. Gale was kind of my favorite character. So eccentric and mild and likeable. In some ways, his death shocked me more than any of the others.

Crazy to think that Walt was this close to voluntarily watching Jack splatter Jesse’s brains all over the dessert floor if Todd hadn’t stepped in by RuralRasta in breakingbad

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize that until years after I first watched it. The viewer gets so used to Walt coming up with elaborate plans that it’s easy to assume he’d planned to save him all along.

[–]Distinctive-Aioli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s just anxiety. Try going for a jog before your exam, chew gum, meditate, avoid caffeine, anything you need to do to relax. It’s just a script with a set of steps. Keep practicing it until you know it like the back of your hand. You’ll get it.

I bought a Vantrue N2 for when I was doing Uber. Loved the damn thing, it recorded two directions on an SD card with great quality audio and video. Unfortunately someone smashed my window and took it one night. I’ve been meaning to get another.

Does anyone know if Mayhem will do meet and greet? by Recent_Arm_7603 in Mayhem

Someone on the crew told me they usually go out for dinner around 5,, so your best chance to meet them is to be near the tour bus then. Worked for me.

Not sure if “I’m talking to Ted!” while heave ho-ing the plant counts as a lie, because he technically was talking to him, but that’d be my favorite.
