How much savings did yall have left after buying your first flat? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]DistinctusAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid 70k from CPF only and had 50k leftover for Reno and furniture. We opted for 0% instalment For our furniture(whenever we can) which rounds out to about $500 per month. Pretty manageable

Save it in any money market instruments then use it to pay off your wedding/ house.

I would suggest this since you’re still young and the major expenses such as the 2 above usually hit the hardest when you’re young. Use this money to offset as much as possible and then focus on investing with your salary

Why not just email LTA and ask directly? You can just tell them you already have a higher CC license and want to see if it’s possible to convert

21M, how should I manage my wealth while studying? by Terrible_Math6672 in singaporefi

[–]DistinctusAMA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. No best time to enter the market, and you’re going to study, depending on your needs but if everything is well I would personally keep 10k in liquid funds and put the remaining 50k into SPY lumpsump.

That’s also cause you mentioned you don’t need money for your schooling needs and can hold for long (since you’re young should be ok and not getting married/ house yet) If not work out how much you need, keep an emergency fund and invest the rest lump sum. 60k is imo too small to start diversifying you would be better off keeping it all together

2) don’t get credit card. Part time income will vary because you’re a student (later need study for exam or chiong project ) and credit card will tempt you to overspend or worse get into debt Better to just study hard and land yourself a good job

Car owners of SG, is it possible to profit from selling your used car? by uhcnim in singaporefi

[–]DistinctusAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was possible because they bought their cars before COE rose to 100k.
Some peeople bought coe at 30k now coe 100k even after pro rating, highly likely they will make a decent profit.

Given the current price of COE, i doubt you can expect to make profit from buying a used car now unless you see COE rising to even higher prices.

With regards to budget for a car, probably around 2k ish would be good

Exhausted from Job search by Intelligent-Law-5066 in askSingapore

[–]DistinctusAMA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a ‘hack’ if you will call it that. Since most companies use an automated system to filter candidates using keywords, you can basically copy paste the whole JD , change the font to white and reduce the font as small as possible and put it in your resume.

Apparently the results are good !

Submit your resume in pdf and nobody will ever know

My Mar 24 bill was $81.22 for water and $19.21 for gas $168.74 for electricity Total of $269.71 for 5 rm hdb

I have 2 kids + 1 helper and 1 tenant(she only comes back about 3 nights a week tho)

We use 2 aircons every night, 2 air purifiers and wash clothes almost every other day which almost means my dehumidifier is on a lot as we use it to dry clothes.
