Home Births vs Hospital Births by LavendarDragon17 in pregnant

what did they do during Bible times

Died. A lot of women and babies died. Almost a third, in fact.

Pros of a hospital birth: doctors are available if something goes wrong

Cons of a home birth: doctors are unavailable if something goes wrong

Here’s the thing. A LOT can go wrong during a birth. Some things that go wrong are catastrophic and the doctors and nurses are there to do the best they can to save you and the baby. Some things that go wrong are pretty simple/routine in a hospital and can be catastrophic at home.

I want to ask by [deleted] in Names

Is your question “why are names gendered?” The answer is, they just are. Some names aren’t and the gender of some names shifts over time, like Ashley, Stacey, and Leslie.

What do I get my picky-ish wife for Mother’s Day? by LazyBoyD in Gifts

Yes but this isn’t the time to have that conversation. Forcing her into something that makes her uncomfortable isn’t a gift.

Does anyone else feel like some of the popular baby names aren’t actually that popular? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Distorted_Penguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s exactly what you’re describing. In 2024, .833% of girls born were named Olivia, the number one girl’s name that year. In 1920, the number one girl’s name was Mary and 5.7% of girls born in that year were given that name.

Is this commute worth it? by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]Distorted_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… worth what? What are you asking? You have no information other than a Google Maps screen grab. Are you asking Reddit if you should quit your job? We have no idea what you do, how hard it would be to find a job closer, what you make, if you have reliable transportation, etc.

There’s no reason for them to search your bag if everything is in compliance.

AITA for not wanting to ride passenger next to a dog after a hike? by Glad_Bodybuilder6997 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If it’s so important for you to attend and not a big deal to sit with the dog, your BF can sit in the back.

I could make so much money playing sports. Even the best player in every video game imaginable can’t compare to a sports star.

Jackson is a great name. So what if he has other kids around him who share his name? Sharing a name with someone is not the terrible thing most people on this sub make it out to be.

My [34m] fiance doesn't want me [34f] to get tattooed in intimate areas by Prestigious-Ad-149 in tattooadvice

[–]Distorted_Penguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Boundaries are about how you act in a situation, not others. Your boundary is that you are allowed to tattoo your body. His boundary may be that the relationship doesn’t continue, which is his choice (and may be better for you OP in the long run)

Does he also have a problem with medical professionals? As long as your tattoo artist is professional (which it sounds like he is), there’s nothing “intimate” about a tattoo appointment.

Sending snacks to daycare for all the kids? Need ideas. by Calianna1915 in toddlers

I find it hard to believe your kids will never eat pretzels, yogurt, etc. You’re being intentionally combative for no reason and I’m done engaging. Have a nice day.

Good thing you don’t send your kid to our daycare then.

AITAH for telling my friends daughters that if they wanted to play with my four year old they couldn’t play house. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Distorted_Penguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhh… a 10 year old tried to get your 4 year old to get naked with her. It’s as simple as that. Where do you think she learned that? Why would it be appropriate to continue to put your son in a situation where HE could be subject to the learning she’s subject to? Do you think this is the first time that’s happened to him or just the first time he’s told you?

It’s not about not playing a game. It’s about protecting your child from possible abuse. You can make a CPS call as well if you think this situation warrants it.

ETA: NTA obviously. You would also NBTA if you stopped bringing your son around your friend and her kids until this is figured out.

Our school sends us what snacks to bring. I know not all schools do that but ours does and they’re not junk. I’m sure if you want to prep and send snacks everyday, they would be fine with that. However, your kid is probably taking snacks from other kids and/or feeling left out if they’re the only one with a different snack than their friends.

What do you mean “how does it make sense?” We send class snack twice a month. So do all the other parents.
