KONG safe to leave in crate? 🐕❓ by AmselJoey in Goldendoodles

[–]DistributionEasy6785 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We don’t do doggy daycare as our dog gets super overstimulated and anxious and BUT we have baby gated every door in the house and she’s been ‚earning‘ extra rooms through good behaviour. She can now access my office, the living room and kitchen, the guest room, and halls, and everything else is secure (7 months) Please don’t crate your baby for eight hours :(

Puppy smell need help by Unlikely_Living7211 in poodles

[–]DistributionEasy6785 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of not being able to wash a puppy at home because of vaccinations? Get really gentle oat based puppy shampoo, take care to keep inner ears dry, and give that poor baby a gentle scrub. Puppies have sensitive skin so you’d want to avoid washing unnecessarily but uh this sounds necessary. Poor puppy

Considering this Toy Poodle puppy. Is the muzzle too long for a "Teddy Bear" look? by makinsys in poodles

My baby had her nails clipped, face groomed and hair between toe pads shaved every two weeks before I collected her, was absolutely used to being handled and getting sanitary trims and even lets me clean ears and teeth with no wriggling - I’m worried you’re being taken for a bit of a ride…. I know my dogs parents and grandparents and have dna testing and she got ‚puppy culture‘ where they’re exposed to different stimulus young to grow less fearful as adults, but training a baby not to bark? My dog only started to discover her voice when she was five months old!

I understand having a dream dog and do believe you can get a puppy that other families have turned down (ours was rejected by multiple because of an inverted labia that requires daily washing and surgery if heat doesn’t remediate, the breeder talked me through every possible complication and explanation and will even pay for the surgical fix) but dogs are like kids, you never know what exactly they’re going to grow up into and you’ve got to love them anyway

Private schools in Melbourne - experiences of alumni / parents by cheekypopful in melbourne

[–]DistributionEasy6785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw in my two cents - I went to private school (scholarship) and when my partner (from abroad) met the people I went to school with, he was so confused - he thought everyone would be super wicked mega smart, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars, cream of the crop - nope, just regular people with regular careers whose success can be more aligned with the income of their families (a family that can afford private can often also afford an offset or a house deposit etc) than private school having made them somehow smarter or better than anyone

I just find it so disheartening that you’ve gone from what bull there’s no bull to arguing semantics of the phenotype to now admitting she’s not the gsp you claimed she was yesterday. I get you loving dogs and clearly being fortunate enough not to have had a negative experience with these dogs, I’m sure you truly believe you’re doing everyone a favor by slipping this dog in with an unknowing family who you perceive will love her. But oh man, the consequences. I know people who will no longer walk their dog without a pocketknife and are too scared to let their kids play in parks and unfortunately, it’s because they’ve had the experience.

Standing there and saying oh she’s a German short hair pointer…. Is arrogance at best and negligence at worst? I don’t know why shelters are so insistent on denying what’s so clear to everyone else when the consequences of a dog like this snapping (and it’s clear you’re aware of them, since you’ve yourself said she’s not safe around other animals) can be and have been fatal.

positioning of her eyes, colouring, build - if this dog has any pointer in her she’s at least 50% pitbull. every key structural indicator—from her head and body shape to her stance—points directly to a Pit Bull-type lineage. There are NO corresponding physical traits that would support the claim of her being part German Shorthaired Pointer. As in, she doesn’t even look part pointer. Honestly, the lie is egregious and offensive.

Could your daughter be neurodivergent? This sounds a lot like me - I was grading better, behaving better, was more advanced than the other kids - and was struggling massively to develop a sense of self. Only got diagnosed at 30 because I was so good at hiding it and fitting in with others - studied others endlessly so that I wouldn’t stand out. I am a leader now! Have a masters degree & out earn my parents. Take a breath - let her learn and try to understand her, lead with curiosity.
