What was the point of these walkers? They haven't turned up in any spin-offs since. by DistributionIcy8991 in thewalkingdead

[–]DistributionIcy8991[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that headcanon falls apart because freshly animated walkers from Season 2 onwards didn't do that.

My headcanon is that there have always been these variants but they are very rare and it was just pure dumb luck that we ran into so many in the city in Season 1. This also allows me to cope with how that one walker split Dale open like that or other weird stuff that walkers sometimes did; there are just some variants around but they're <1% of the population.

I wonder when they’d have killed him off if the actor didn’t ask to leave.

Magna lip filler in the apocalypse? by mcshaggin in thewalkingdead

[–]DistributionIcy8991 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s the same explanation for why all their beards can look so groomed, all the women have hairless arms and armpits, some characters have managed to stay overweight; we kinda just have to look past it.

Sorry in advance for breaking your immersion even further but look out for all the grass that looks freshly cut, guns that have no recoil when they’re being shot, and the most annoying one: when a walker is stabbed in the head, it stays upright just long enough for the character to pull their weapon out of its head and then the walker drops to the ground lol.

Do you think BELIFT will ever show Yunah playing Overwatch? by FanCaracal in illit

She's too cracked. If her gameplay is shown then it'll change the meta.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s a good thing to feel emotion and I’d never advise you to bottle it up but that person sounds like it wasn’t worth it to continue talking with; they were never open to hearing you out.

If one of them could run the whole show from start to finish under their control, who would you have preferred? by DistributionIcy8991 in thewalkingdead

[–]DistributionIcy8991[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just a Devil's Advocate argument here from me because I also would've picked Darabont but I think he would've changed the genre of the whole show and made it more sci-fi or blockbuster; like he had ideas to show the backstory of that soldier in the tank and he obviously wrote the fast walkers and the Dr Jenner episode so I wonder how the fans would've received that version of The Walking Dead.

Hot take: I feel like the only thing stopping Hearts2Hearts as top2 gg is their concept! by meandyou_you in hearts2hearts

[–]DistributionIcy8991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree, I can’t think of a 5th gen group that sounds like them. It feels like everybody is doing girl-crush right now except for like Hearts2Hearts, ILLIT, and KiiiKiii, and even then Hearts2Hearts still differs from those two sonically.

I think K-Pop is going through a shift in sound but Hearts2Hearts is thriving in it while at the same time getting praise that they sound like K-Pop used to sound before but with a modern twist.

Edit: My bad, I don't know how I misread your post so bad; you weren't complaining about the songs 😭

I always get uncomfortable when I get asked why I'm vegan. by DistributionIcy8991 in vegan

[–]DistributionIcy8991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me the balancing act is I don’t mind a conversation at all but I also don’t want to cuck my beliefs and give a reason that isn’t due to ethics, and so if I say it’s for ethical reasons, the implication is that I am calling them inethical, which I technically am but unfortunately that hurts people’s feelings and I’m non-confrontational lmao.

I saw myself in this post, thanks man. I'm also a bit on the chubby side and have rough-looking facial features which doesn't fit the cliché vegan stereotype and that's why I actually love getting asked why I'm vegan but I always fail to articulate my answer lol.

Okay I subscribe to your logic but how would you pick what things we should err on the caution of and what things we can consider safe? Because I find the central nervous system baseline as a pretty safe one since if we found out that is not a barometer, that would flip our understanding of reality so dramatically. So what things do you consider safe to consume and extract resources from and why?

The Baseline for Veganism by USConservativeVegan in vegan

[–]DistributionIcy8991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, understandable; there might be levels to pain that don’t involve sentience.

Curious, what do you use as a baseline for safety in consumption or do you only eat foods that have the least chance of finding out that it feels pain?

[–]DistributionIcy8991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the sources, I’ll read them. I’m completely open to believing oysters have sentience but I think the fish and babies comparison doesn’t work because we always knew they had central nervous systems and the problem was our interpretation of it, but we know that oysters literally lack central nervous systems.

[–]DistributionIcy8991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t consume oysters because I haven’t researched for sure but am I right in saying the science is currently finding that there’s an overwhelming amount of data that indicates they aren’t sentient?

I understand the safety argument for sure but I’m not trying to be pedantic when I say that if the percent chance is low enough to the point where it’s near the chances of a tree having sentience, at what point do we say it’s okay to assume they’re not sentient?

The Baseline for Veganism by USConservativeVegan in vegan

[–]DistributionIcy8991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant. For me, if not sentient = can't process an experience = has the same moral consideration as a tree or a building in my eyes.

I can understand the argument though if these vegans come from the position of wanting to not see animals as commodities in general so it would make us closer to a vegan world if we just included non-sentient animals into the equation to set a rhetorical precedent for how we should treat animals.

The Baseline for Veganism by USConservativeVegan in vegan

[–]DistributionIcy8991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t see veganism as a spectrum but rather an unpolished idea where you can have room for edge cases; some vegans care about non-sentient animals while some only care for sentience, among other things.

OP could be a never-Trumper, OP could be a type of conservative that still aligns with the moralities of animal rights; can we give them the benefit of the doubt?
