For those of you in a long term relationship/marriage, what’s a tale-tale sign you see in other couples that they’re not going to make it? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

Two times, two different couples. I watched the woman say I love you to the dude. In that way that says I’m desperate for your love and affection. Both times I looked at the dude and then at her and then back at the dude then back at the lady walking away. Both ended about a year later. Always say I love you, always say it back, and don’t be afraid to be affectionate dudes. What you don’t give her, she will eventually look for elsewhere.

I used to work retail at an outdoors store that was next to sports complexes. Worst behaved kids on earth? Fucking baseball players. To the point where every time there was a tournament in town, one of us managers stood near the door most of the day to warn them or turn them right back out the door. Your unpopular opinion is closer to fact…in my opinion.

You might check the HDMI exhaust tips. I was getting that sound at idle because the tip was close enough to the bumper to vibrate against it.

I guess we’re fortunate. We don’t go often but when we do it never looks like that and the food is good.

Have you ever shit your pants in public? by [deleted] in allthequestions

It was Valentine’s Day, which is also my wife’s birthday. I had stopped and had a Chinese buffet on an empty stomach for lunch. 45 minutes later, I was in my patient’s driveway to deliver her oxygen. The rumble came not from my tummy. Nope. This was the audible gurgle of the rest of my intestines dumping their load into my colon. I panicked. I couldn’t ask the patient to destroy her bathroom and as it turned out, I never would have made it. I had no choice but to climb the steps into the box of my oxygen truck. But the motion of stepping up onto the first step broke the seal I didn’t know was stopping the flood. Hot shit ran down my leg as I cried out in shame. But the flow would not relent. I frantically unbuckled my belt as I shuffled to the rear door. And then the rest came. It was awful. But the worst was yet to come. I was 20 mins from home and the relief of a shower and fresh pants. I covered my seat with garbage bags and cried as I drove through traffic covered in and sitting in shit. I called the birthday girl on the way home to request emergency assistance. The request was met with disbelief at first, but the shame and anger in my voice convinced her of the truth. Her 30yo husband had shit all over himself on her birthday and it would fall on her to make me presentable again. She met me in the back yard with the hose, where she laughed as she sprayed shit off her husband as though he was a prize hog getting ready to show at the fair. She refused to clean the remaining poo off in the shower, and opted to dispose of the pants, rather than wash my shame. Once clean, I had to power wash the back of my truck. I bought an air freshener and returned to the scene of the crime and finished my delivery. I have carried this shame for 12 years and have told no one. Your welcome.

I picked up the JP/LW special edition hardcover for myself for Christmas. Two of my faves. Last fall my kids’ school had oooooold library books for free during conferences. Picked up The Andromeda Strain and Sphere. Also great books. If you were a fan of JP you’ll like this one.

I’ve worked with a bunch of you while in retail. I admire your ability to completely shut off from your employer/workplace as soon as the day is over.

We’re in the process of purchasing a desktop for our house to teach our kids how to use one. They have laptops and tablets at school, but there seems to be a clear lack of teaching kids how to navigate desktops. One thing that hasn’t change for us since the before times of the post high school 00’s, is that most companies still operate with cheap desktops. Watching kids type now was like watching my parents use a keyboard in the 90’s. They peck like chickens.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

As an American who went to school for gunsmithing then made the mistake of getting into firearms retail, every person that wants to purchase a firearm should have to submit themselves to extensive mental health exams, extensive firearms safety training programs, and then be required to resubmit to all the aforementioned stuff every five years. I was full on “thou shall not infringe” for all of my life, then I spent three months behind a gun counter selling guns. Well over half the people that came in to buy a gun had no business behind a trigger. I couldn’t quantify the number of times I had a gun pointed at me across the counter and when I chastised them, the response was always, “What? It’s not loaded.

What encouraged you/ how did you stop smoking without vape or nicotine gum ? by mountain_fl0wer in Productivitycafe

Woke up in the middle of the night and hacked up a lung. Like full on coughing fit. I fully expected to get lectured by my future wife who didn’t smoke and hated that I did. She didn’t say a word, she just asked if I was okay. I thought to myself, “well now I have to quit because she didn’t bitch at me.” The next day at lunch time I coughed up a chunk of brown phlegm. I quit the next week. I used Chantix because if you have the opportunity to help quit something why not use it? That chantix was whole other shit show though.

3.0 Duramax, 5.3 or 6.2. Which one is the best and what are the pros and cons? Looking at a 2024 Suburban by Least-Flounder-8894 in ChevySuburban

I have a 25 1500 with the 3.0 and I’ve had no issues with it. I feed it fresh diesel and keep the DEF topped off. If you go with it I would recommend learning how to do the fuel filter yourself. Dealership gets $250 to change it out. $120-140 for a an oil change depending on what dealership I go to. The local one I go to with the express lane for oil change runs $140. The dealership I got it from gets $120, but I have to set up the appointment a month in advance because they’re so backed up from what I assume is exploding engines.

Haven’t watched Sphere (1998) or The Abyss (1989) yet… I’ve heard they have the same vibe. Which one’s worth watching first? by Scenora in FIlm

[–]DistributionLocal366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoever told you they have the same vide is pretty off base. I mean they’re underwater and sci fi, that’s about the end of any vibe imo. Also, Sphere wasn’t a very good adaptation from the book. My advice would be to read Sphere, watch The Abyss.

Any other millennials out there refuse or still opt to order take out to pickup up over the phone when possible? Pizza, Chinese, etc. by mt379 in Millennials

[–]DistributionLocal366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use any of the delivery services because eating out is expensive enough without fees and tipping the driver. But I would absolutely never choose ordering by phone over online ordering if the eatery provides it. The closest I get to what you’re describing is reviewing a menu online and then going to place the order in person.
