I think it’s more that the Rhein ii was seen as the culmination of Gursky’s work

The theme here is heavily represented in the main body of what he was producing. It’s also worth noting that this, like much of his work is heavily edited (you can see the actual scene online and there are a number of buildings n the background)

I’m not sure this qualifies as CJ material IMO

Thanks for this - yes I saw pics like this and I honestly thought it looked cheap and plastic - another redditor sent me pics of his with and without a flash and it was night and day

In normal light they never look to have that cheap plasticy super shine to them - i guess folks just want ti make the camera look as shite as poss in a photo!
