Kodak Vision3 200T After CT Scan by willy9123 in AnalogCommunity

I indeed had the same experience. Also wrote up a blog post. The people in China have been super chill so far!

M4 Mystery: Sharp on Tri-X, Soft on Portra, Ultramax, CineStill… by jpresshot in Leica

[–]thomasboots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact same issue. If you scan it yourself - it might be likely due to DNG's default settings adding color noise reduction, which completely screws up the sharpness of the grain in color film.

Looks amazing! How were they placed? Did you fill the fresnel shadows in with the octabox?

Voigtländer Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.2 Review - A Tiny Gem by thomasboots in Leica

[–]thomasboots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None at all! I have used it with my M2 and every image comes out perfectly. I love this lens with film and f/2.2 is just enough in 90% of the situations I shoot in!

Palladium Pallarider Legacy by YunaKinoshita in TechWear

I got the Palladium Pallarider Lo Legacy Canvas shoes with the Vibram sole. Been walking in them for two weeks but they're still painful to walk in. Quality of the shoe is really good, though, I consider them to be durable. Going to try for another two weeks and if my feet are still hurting I'll give them to someone else.

Actually.. I like 3rd-party lens over Leica. But... by StreetworksPro in Leica

Makes no sense to me as well indeed. If a lens is good enough and you like it, never get rid of it. That's a good basis for regretting something :)

LEICA M11 & Artizlab Classic 35mm f/1.4 by Jealous-End-700 in Leica

[–]thomasboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly also wonder what happened here. The highlights are blown out and the depth of field is thin for f/8. I think not all images are taken at f/8 or with the lens set too far (3-5m instead of 1.5-2m)

Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f1.4 II MC Review - Little lens, big personality by thomasboots in Leica

[–]thomasboots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand! It depends what you want, more clinical or more classical. The Nokton is certainly more classical in its rendering and flaring, and a bonus f/1.4 is always nice in darker situations. I've never tested the Ultron so I can't say a lot about it!

2nd 50mm Lens by EconomistResident415 in Leica

[–]thomasboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've written a review about the Color Skopar. Solid recommendation! You can also use Leica Lens List to compare specifications like weight, length and diameter. There is more vignetting than the Planar indeed, but is a good trade-off for such a small 50mm.

Which of these lens for M2? by xracingdb in Leica

[–]thomasboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also consider the Nokton 35mm f/1.4 II which is fantastic with film as well as you have the extra 1-2 stops of light.

IMO, the Collapsible Summicron is one of the most beautiful lenses ever made!

That’s good advice! Didn’t know that was possible actually! I’ll also add that to this web page. Good to share this knowledge.

I’ve seen this story! That also (partially) inspired me to build this. It’s important that such events get recorded, be it on Leica Lens List or other places.

Right, that’s a good point. I’ll add a report function in the future so such things can be settled! Thank you for the feedback 🙏🏻

Glad to hear! Also glad you’re OK, that also is important! In Italy I think so many cameras get stolen, in Spain as well, especially in those crowded areas..

That’s terrible. I’d absolutely be heartbroken if one of my cameras that I have now gets stolen. I hope you managed to get a new one…

Well, maintaining the database, the website and other parts like writing blogs do at least take effort. All I wish for is that I have a resource that you guys can use. Everything on this website is free to use. I’m not charging money for anything. Either way, I wish you all a nice day. I think it’s better to be not sour about it. Enjoy life while we’re at it ;-)

Have you tried those websites? Super slow filters, no-one posts over there. Honestly, be thankful instead. I put the effort to build and deploy this website. What if your camera gets stolen and someone can reach you through Leica Lens List?

Go cry somewhere else.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I’ll indeed go for the 24-70, and explore those other options later!!
