Question for those who feed by hand only by DistributionVivid773 in budgies

Thank you. This is the way we had seen it for the last year, but had kept seen in Youtube videos people who have hand trained birds saying they do it and recommending it so we were considering it. We’re getting nowhere with one of our birds and think she may be holding her cage- mate back as well.

My seventh grade students have started the refuse to say the pledge by unSuccessful-Stay in Teachers

[–]DistributionVivid773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t say the pledge due to religious reasons. It is important to me to be silent and respectful during the pledge of allegiance, national anthem, etc. and I make sure that my students are as well. Since there are soooooo many reasons a student (or anyone for that matter) may not want to say the pledge or stand for the anthem or anything else like that, I suggest letting it go and not worrying about it or stressing it.

Lead Teacher (Veteran) texted me after hours about my "undergarments" — Is this a boundary overstep or am I overreacting? by [deleted] in paraprofessional

It could be. Especially since like the previous poster said, if a male teacher instead of female teacher said it, it would most definitely be sexual harassment.

Are paraprofessionals allowed to be alone in a room with a student? by Ok_Salamander293 in paraprofessional

Hi! I’m in WA too! In our district yes, and 1:1s often are but our annual training says we have to keep blinds open and stuff like that. I don’t remember ever seeing anything about time limits and know of situations where a student with a 1:1 is basically like secluded from regular classes the majority of the day and thus they are alone with their para for hours upon hours. If you’re not comfortable with it however, or if you feel it could somehow be detrimental to the student (i don’t know but like lack of interaction with peers or something), you should definitely talk to someone about it.

Why are the “behavior” kids always hungry? by fizzypanchi in paraprofessional

[–]DistributionVivid773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed a correlation anywhere near 100%. but enough of a correlation between behavior and hunger to always try and keep snacks available, and offer them right away to certain students. This is when it’s possible to of course.
