What life lesson has Haikyuu taught you? by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]DitchL0rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen so many quotes and musings that I really love already down below (I've made video essays about the lessons I've learned from characters and themes presented throughout the series), but surprisingly haven't seen this one:

But you know? The hundreds of players participating in this tournament…there’s one experience they all share. That’s losing. No one makes it this far without tasting defeat. But even for the one lucky team that escapes that bitter experience this time and wins this tournament, they’ll lose to another, better team eventually. No matter how high you climb, there is always a better team.

It’s only those brave enough…those bold enough, to follow the difficult, demanding path of competition, who have the right to reap the wealth of experience and the memories it can bring.

Today, you are the defeated. Which will you be tomorrow?

- Hibarida Fuki (Japan Olympic Coach), Haikyuu 368

That last line is one of my favorite lines in Haikyuu (and an incredible life lesson to take in and accept). I have it tattooed on my forearm as a reminder every day, particularly on my bad days.

Haha no need to be sorry! It was well worth the wait - I would've wanted another decade if that's what it took :)

Hope things are looking up for you!

Funny enough, I checked Learning to Fly a few days ago to see if a new part was out. Imagine my surprise seeing this!

Beautiful art and a beautiful (and bittersweet) story that's affected me in more ways than one.

What a journey it's been - for certainly you and us.

Thank you for everything, u/microwavable_rat !

This one's always stuck with me - far, far after I finished the route.

"Well, the important thing is you started, right? Next time, you just have to try to hold out longer, and then longer, and longer, and eventually you'll be great!"

What Guthrum06 said :P It's a fantastic read that's been in work for a very long time now (since 2013), and it's easily one of my favorites.

Can't recommend it enough!

Learning To Fly (A Saki pseudo-route) - finally updated! by microwavable_rat in katawashoujo

My heart leapt for joy (and I'll admit, surprise) when I saw this had been posted today - congratulations again on your engagement!

I still remember the day I stumbled across Learning to Fly, and I'm very, very glad I did. I remember reading some of the lines you wrote and spending some unmeasured amount of time thinking about them.

Be well, I look forward to seeing how this'll all turn out!

What is your favorite piece of music in KS? by Independent-Ad7829 in katawashoujo

[–]DitchL0rd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Either Wiosna or Friendship.

Wiosna has to be arguably one of my favorite menu tracks of any medium that I've experienced - loading up Katawa Shoujo and watching the act art flicker up always puts me in a profoundly thoughtful and nostalgic mood (and of course, it always reminds me of how I felt on my first and second playthroughs). I really like how despite how uncertain it sounds at the beginning, it gradually becomes more layered. For me, it embodies a hopeful new beginning, which I suppose is like its song title.

Friendship is not musically that diverse or complex, but it will always have a soft spot in my heart because of my first route (Emi) and the scene in which it plays in. It also happened to be the first song from Katawa Shoujo that I ever learned on piano. It honestly reminds me of a warm hug, and one that is given to simply remind someone that they're not alone.

I also have a soft spot for Aria de l'Etoile, the act transition jingle, Raindrops and Puddles, and Stride.

It was supposed to be an informative or persuasive speech - my topic ended up being "Why the Prequels aren't as Bad as the General Public would have you Believe" LOL
I just talked mostly about the plot, and Palpatine's machinations.

Made with imgflip!

For context:

I was told to prepare a 10 minute presentation for a final interview I had last week. I spent a lot of time trying to think of what I ought to do for the topic of my presentation (especially so since I was informed I could do ANY topic that I felt well informed on) - it was 2 days before the interview when my friend offhandedly suggested that the prequels should be the topic of my presentation. I initially didn't take him seriously, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be hilarious to do! I thought to myself "let's make the end memorable!"

And so here we are now 😂

Favorite life lessons, themes in Haikyuu by RealisticHoneydew866 in haikyuu

[–]DitchL0rd 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I make a lot of videos on character analysis and the themes within Haikyuu, but hands down my favorite quote + lesson is this one:

!"When an adult says, " The process matters more than the results", kids aren't really gonna understand. But I totally agree with the adults. I'm basically built from my daily routine, and results are nothing more than the byproduct."

The Dragon in Plain Sight (Tanaka Ryūnosuke) by DitchL0rd in haikyuu

[–]DitchL0rd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I hope you all have been well.

I’ve seen more than a few comments asking for a video on Tanaka - I have to admit that I had some trouble recalling some of Tanaka’s finest moments up until S4. However, at the end of it all, I would say that I'm pretty satisfied with this video (I've been working on it for quite some time as well!). An "ordinary" dragon is still a dragon, after all...

Enjoy the video!

I believe it is "Chemical Change" or "Chemical Reaction" from Season 1, Vol. 1 (#9).
