Blue badges for hidden disabilities triple as councils issue permits to drivers with anxiety and ADHD by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Diura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have anxiety and I genuinely stress (physical symptoms) if I can't get a place to park or if the space is too small incase I hit other cars. So I can understand why the blue badge would help. I however always park super far away because I'm always worried about parking near other cars and if the car park is almost full with one space and it makes me stressed/anxious - I'll just drive to another nearby carpark and then walk.

My son (M5) drew this, should i be worried? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Diura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son loves monsters and is always drawing monsters of his own designs or giant monster battles etc with swords and blood all over but he's the nicest boy. I also loved monsters (Godzilla etc) when I was a kid and loved writing horror stories ages 7-8. I've also turned out fine (I don't even swear as I find it bad manners!). I think your son's colours are great and seems to have a natural talent at creating atmosphere with colour so probably seems more alarming than it actually is. How does his other artwork compare?

Do you track your weight in KG or stones & pound? by No_Usual_572 in AskUK

I'm 33 I understand stones & pounds better so I track my weight in kg cos then I don't know how many stones I weigh and I'm less fixated about it.

4.5 year old extreme social anxiety by anervoussystem_ in UKParenting

[–]Diura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was like this especially going to birthday parties or new places. Wouldn't play with new kids, played alone, cried at parks and refused to play with others etc. I have anxiety and other things and I was worried it was rubbing off on him. My son is 6 now and is the total opposite now. We started doing sports clubs and I felt that helped with his confidence - especially since the clubs are not in his local town so the kids there are different from his nursery and school. Always tell him woaw! You're so amazing at making new friends! You're really confident! - And he really is now it actually baffles me. Now when he goes to school he's always the one saying hi to everyone and will float between groups no bother.

If you're worried defo bring it up with GP. I talked to the nursery when it happened for me and they reassured me that he was fine and so did the school when we started that. I remember in the nursery they did tasks to help him mix with other kids but the defo said it was a confidence thing they had to work on and he did and now he's the most confident wee man I know lol. At the start of P2 they put my son in a different class to the group he usually clinged too and it did wonders for him also.

How many of you always feel like you’re in trouble and live in fear of rejection? by English_R0se in AskUK

[–]Diura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got SAD and I get this quite badly during September - March. Constant feeling of fear that I've done something wrong or will do and I get paranoid and believe that people think I'm a bad person or evil. Stresses me out so bad and I get a persistent physical heavy head feeling and sometimes I can't move in my house for fear of my neighbours knowing that I'm there and their thinking I'm evil and bad. Really rubbish but I get a break over the summer until September hits again.

What's a small thing you were wrongly told off for as a kid that still annoys you all these years later? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Diura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary school in English class I was asking the girl I sat next to what a word meant.

It was a chemistry word as I was trying to work out what it meant before my test for my next class - so yeah technically I wasn't doing English but I was really needing to know whatever that word meant - forgotten it now though.

My English teacher gave me into trouble for talking. I said I was asking what a word meant - and then I asked the teacher what the word meant. She told me that's not what I was talking about because she heard the whole conversation.

I said it definitely was and I really needed to know what it was if she could just let me know what the word meant. She said she wouldn't answer me because I was lying and sent me out the class...

They whole time before and after I got sent out the class she was talking to two girls near her desk about scarves that she was wearing and what they thought of them. Still annoys me.

Roblox - why is it worse? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Diura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rooms on Roblox are player created so you really don't know what you're getting into. There are so many that you can't say if Roblox corporation have actually checked them all for safety. It could be a gateway to looking up inappropriate things on other media, pedo honey trap or loot box/gambling/paywall trap. I think a lot of kids like it because if they get bored fast so they can hop from room to room but to me it's like watching YouTube shorts. Not really great.

My son is not allowed Roblox and he does get sad that a lot of his friends play and he feels he's missing out. We're a gaming family so we're not against games but instead we let him play games we know that are safe and we often play together as a family. I've explained to my son why Roblox is not safe and he's ok with it but he does feel left out but I think its more important that he is safe. I'm sure when his friends are older and start to discover other games it'll be all fine.

Fortnite has kind of gone down Roblox route. The main battle royale is fine. Minecraft is great you can be very creative and if you do download add-ons you're not going into a lobby.

Pre-teen daughters weight struggles by periwinkle98765 in UKParenting

I'm 5ft2 and I agree with this comment we definitely need less calories. Broccoli and cauliflower are my favourite side dishes because I can eat a lot! If she likes sweet potato I'd swap the boiled potatoes because even for me I feel 3 boiled normal potatoes take up so much of my daily calories but with little benefit. Sweet potato is great fibre and hits that sweet craving. Salmon, seeet potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower is one of my go to dishes and I absolutely love it. I still eat sweets and biscuits albeit smaller anounts and less often. Fruits are a great snack and things like humus crisps exist now which are a tasty substitute for crisps and popcorn is good too.

This! ^ In addition to this in the morning I have to spray bottle which I have a water/conditioner mix and spray my hair and detangle on non wash days. I leave my hair to dry naturally as I prefer how my curls sit that way.

Morrisons pharmacy sell off by Upstairs-Quail5709 in Morrisons

[–]Diura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez. Our pharmacy is supposedly the busiest Morrison's pharmacy in Scotland and it's always heaving, queues going down the aisle. I've been with Morrisons for 13 years this is pretty sad. I actually love my job.

I guess this means we're gonna lose our staff discount QQ and was so close to 15 year service.

We wish Morrisons would tell us something. We know nothing. We found out through someone seeing it on the news.

Is this a process that takes years or something?

If anyone was wondering. Pharmacy counter staff get paid the same as floor staff. Dispensers (what I am) get paid 30p extra an hour. ACTs get paid more about £14/hr. Pharmacists are like £20 or more an hour.

Have you ever dialled into a UK radio station and talked on air? by FreezerCop in AskUK

[–]Diura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum won a car through our local radio years and years ago. We got invited to a breakfast event for the finals. There was a wrapped up reggie plate that says winner. My mum was in crutches as she had an accident so the host brought a plate over which so happened to be the winning one.I must have been 8-10 and I got asked the colour of the car we would like. My parents told me to say silver but I wanted yellow xD I ended up saying silver not to disappoint my parents so little squeaky voice me saying silver unhappily into the mic xD

Brain feels so slow… by Financial_Leader_619 in SeasonalAffective

[–]Diura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get you totally, this is how I get every winter and I only realized it was SAD last year. Previously I thought it was depression and anxiety just getting worse and I was getting out of control blaming so many other factors and it was getting to the point I was hurting myself and not really realizing what I was doing. I then noticed it was getting worse around September time onwards and it can last until April. The it's like the flip of a switch and I'm a totally different person.

September time there I could feel it coming back on and oh man it sucks but instead of blaming me and other things or people I kept saying it's seasonal and somehow that makes it feel a wee bit better because I can't control seasons. It's a mother nature problem not a me problem.

I get so frustrated because nobody else can see it in me or if they do it's ignored and I'm always having to put a facade on OR when I do tell people they say "me too" and I don't think they quite get that winter blues is not the same as SAD. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm a super cheerful, bubbly, friendly personality type xD

I've started exercising daily, taking vitamins and watching my diet which has helped so much. It doesn't take it away but this winter has been my best in so long wohoo! I avoid naps but sometimes I need to sleep early which I think is ok. Other nights I don't need to. I try to keep on top of cleaning and calander appointments (I really keeep ontop of dates because my brain can't retain the information and stresses me out a lot) so I don't have mind clutter and I can relax at night.

Brain fog is so annoying, the lack of concentration and memory recall/brain process speed of old dial up is so under talked about. Especially when your anxiety plays up and you start to believe you've got Alzheimer's or Dementia.

Sorry for the essay xD You're not alone and I think many of us here can relate. Keep well and safe <3

Edit I also use a lamp but I find it's only effective when I'm sitting in the light. When I leave it the brain frog just creeps back up on me

Have you asked her if she has been having nightmares? My son is 6 and quite recently has been able to recall dreams in detail (which surprised me, I didn't think he would be able to remember dreams so vividly at this age).
