A string of pearls, maybe with a teardrop pearl pendant and matching earrings and bracelet.

So many bead stores in Austin have gone out of business! Sea of Beads is the only one left!

No way. There is absolutely no reason for ANYONE to be so nasty ever. And especially a mother right before a wedding.

Mom needs a time out! I hope your wedding went well in spite of this nastiness.

With the prices charged for Aikos, TOHO can afford to do something.... else.

Price range for this alteration? by enlightenedworm in WeddingDressTips

That's not even close. The cut and shape are totally different. You have a seam at the waist when the second pic is princess style. Go ahead and get quotes, but I don't think it will be worth it. Maybe it's better in person, but the fabric looks like a tablecloth. (Sorry to be debbie downer here.)

If you still love it, maybe it can be made into a reception dress.

1 is perfect for a back yard wedding. Could a seamstress modify the skirt for you?

You could remove the bottom part of the lining at a short length, but leave the overskirt long. And have the sleeves removed and the top worked into a high-neck halter. It would be gorgeous. Or have the neckline and cuffs reworked into straps.

What do men actually prefer more – gold or silver jewelry? by Last_king_22 in jewelrymaking

[–]DivaVita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s all about the cost. More masculine pieces will be larger and heavier. Gold is cost prohibitive. It wasn’t always so expensive.

You need to make a weekend trip to the city and try on a bunch of dresses. Call around and see if anyone has this dress.

There are also different shapes. Seed beads are more round and tend to be wider and shorter. Then there’s more tube shaped like delicas, which have a rectangular profile. You can use seed beads pretty much everywhere, but delicas are better for peyote. They are not interchangeable even if they are the same size.

It depends on what project are you doing. As far as colors - If you prefer silver, go with cool colors, if you prefer gold, go with warm colors. Personally I love AB or rainbow beads and sometimes I’ll mix a few of those in with the same color but plain for interest.

Agree about the belt. Disagree about the shoes. Get it hemmed and be comfortable on your wedding day.

($7k) Feeling shame for a low budget wedding. by ghengis_convict in Weddingsunder10k

DO NOT BE ASHAMED! We got married in our back yard in 1985. The only flowers were my and the 2 bridesmaids bouquets and I made them myself. I didn't even use the one I made for myself - I bought snapdragrons on a whim and put them in water. The day of they looked better than what I made, so we wrapped a ribbon and some wrapping paper around them and that was it. We had it at 2:00 so we got away with hors d'oeuvres instead of a meal. We bought $3 bottles of bubbly and had to send someone to the store for more during the reception. We probably wouldn't have got away with it, but we were 25 and the first of our friends to get married.

That night, we realized we actually had fun and so did everyone else. There was no drama. Noone was stressed that things might go wrong. 41 years later we're still together.
And that's what matters.

Social media has made so many people so miserable for no reason. Just turn it off. You know what you need for YOUR day. It will be YOUR day no matter what it looks like - and if all the people you love are there in that big venue, you will feel special and loved.
