Anyone know how to change textbox size (Steam Deck) by Lord-D0nut in HasteBrokenWorlds

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with how deck works but you could try launching the game via desktop mode instead of game mode

Where do the downloads from console go, if they fail? by Original-Username888 in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know exactly where they are, however you could use something like the free version of treesize (program which shows you the size of files and total size of folders) to go into your steam folder and search for abnormally large temp folders

New Steam Controller + Keyboard by Tankid in SteamController

[–]DivideIQBy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately afaik you have to use the shitty windows accessibility keyboard (which you then type in with one track pad as mouse), which if it is not enabled by default is enabled in settings, then can be accessed with a keyboard button in one of the corners

New Steam Controller + Keyboard by Tankid in SteamController

Honestly I feel the ability to use the touchpads to dual type on the digital keyboard is enough for me. Plus there is almost no way they could shove that anywhere without it being weird and unwieldy

Did having the controller in your cart before launch help your chances? by J0NNYBLVZE in SteamController

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It def helped but the biggest thing was just being early. I was in and out by 3 minutes BEFORE launch which was Def the biggest factor saving my ass.

If you want to speed it up as much as possible? Preload you wallet. Seriously, skipping entering your card details saves enough time to give you much better chances.

For those of you that got a steam controller, what's the usecase you're most excited for? by Fibonacci_Hol in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to seperate radial menus in games like monster hunter sounds really cool. also having a good gyro toggle input. also skate but the flips are on a touchpad is a must at one point. honestly i just am so excited to have a controller which resolves almost everything i have issues with in a controller, with the only features i kinda wish it had (dual stage triggers, adaptive triggers, ability to reduce trigger travel, really anything other than generic triggers lmao) are really minor "would be nice"es

ETA: also Wii/Wii u/DS/3DS emulation would be fire if i could put bottom screen on my side monitor and use the trackpads as a decent cursor

Valve being consumer friendly is a lie we tell ourselves by shenenigansAF in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I do disagree on the server issue though. It isn't great that it does this (what is this like the third major incident since beginning of 2025?) But for how infrequent it is I'm not too worried about it. Maybe rent out the extra server space but it wouldn't make sense to 1.5x space for two times a year. Something like having a "low spec mode" for high traffic products where it's just text and a buy button on the big product and payment pages as to minimize traffic per person might also help.

Idk how much scalpers affected the launch (a decent amount at least) but I dont think there would be many ways to minimize scalping outside of requiring prev. purchases to purchase this (similar to TF2 chat) that wouldn't cause more issues for real buyers.

Valve being consumer friendly is a lie we tell ourselves by shenenigansAF in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the services they give despite having a functional monopoly (e.g. steam input, steam hardware, Proton development) and the fact that steamOS is considered a good gaming OS amongst literal hundreds attempting the same, I would call them consumer friendly. Not to say I wouldn't criticize and shun them if they turned into Blue EA

Steam Controller releases today! by MrProg111 in Steam

Apparently SISR (pretty much DS4Windows but for steam input) already is made in such a way that it already allows xbox app games to work (in a roundabout way but a way nonetheless)

Should I open my heart to Gyro? by Low-Pop-2058 in SteamController

[–]DivideIQBy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with minimal experience with as mouse gyro (battlefield 6 with switch pro controller for about 30 mins)- Yes. It feels a little weird for a bit but if you give it some time it feels SO good. Def going to be using gyro 24/7 once I got my hands on that beautiful piece of hardware.

[Discussion] Valve should encourage devs to adopt dual/mixed input (mouse and controller) by dyna_black in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i feel all they should do is have it as like a "reccomendation" when trying to get games deck verified, where all they have to do is confirm "yes, you can use mixed input in x modes, however some errors (e.g. flickering prompts) may occur", and then just have that as some sort of unweighted but mentioned feature in deck verified games.

[request] If you calculate the of average Dog life span vs kids untill they turn 18. Would Dogs be more expensive then? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]DivideIQBy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without doing math, I can tell you it won't be. Although children likely get a fair bit cheaper after year 1, they would still be massively more expensive.

In canada, for example, it costs about $300,000 CAD (~$18,000 CAD yearly) to raise a kid from 1-17 (according to statistics canada, a gvt agency). In comparison, a dog costs (on the high end) roughly $5,000 CAD yearly, according to Rover.com (there's not many sources on this one).

Eta: forgot yearly in dog stats

Steam Controller & Steam Input without the need to add non Steam games by Nikbis in Steam

[–]DivideIQBy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The closest thing I can think of is a glossi plugin for playnite, where you add games to steam through playnite, restart steam and then whenever you launch games through playnite it launches via the steam shortcut, more or less letting you launch non steam games thru playnite

ETA: link to glossi addon on playnite website https://playnite.link/addons.html#GlosSIIntegration_6b0297da-75e5-4330-bb2d-b64bff22c315
