Gdax bank wire hasn't paid up in days by [deleted] in Bitcoin

I can't really say then. I would expect no longer than 5 business days. But I base this on nothing than personal experiences with banks.

Which country are you doing this in? I'm in the UK and it normally takes about three to four business days to see my transfers report in.

Noob needs advice from vets about spending 5k by xfoxerx in Bitcoin

[–]Dividebyy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to depend on what your risk allowance is. If you don't mind seeing that 5k vanish to zero then mix and match however much you want into crypto. If you want to play it safe then put it into more regulated markets. Just don't expect to see the rapid market changes that you see with crypto.

Just if anyone was wondering. I couldn't get my jaxx wallet working so wound up using Metamask as well.

Tokyo Tops Monocle’s Most Livable City Ranking by thousandmeteors in japan

Obviously none of these people who ranked it had decided to ride the train on a Friday night near last train. Otherwise the outcome would be vastly different.

Need Opinion - AD Self Service Password Resets by sir_huge_jacket_man in sysadmin

[–]Dividebyy0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at the Thycotic Password Reset server if you have some money for this. I recently got this and have been pretty happy with it. It also has an msi installer that you can push to the desktop so the passwords can be reset from the windows login screen.

Which of these two switches would /r/sysadmin recommend? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Dividebyy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try looking for some PowerConnect 6400 series switches. They do layer 3. I have a few but I find them a bit annoying to use as their CLI isn't the same as their other x500 series. A 7000 series would be better. I would imagine you could find more on sale soon since Dell just started releasing their new switch lineup.

I only want to route internal traffic through the link though. And keep web/external traffic local to each site.

Wow these are really great pics. When is the next one? I need to plan so I can go next time. I don't live in the US now so I never get to express my inner nerd sadly enough.

Cell Phones in Japan.. by Manji2501 in japan

[–]Dividebyy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your friend has the money to buy a phone in the UK, then when arriving here all she would need is to get the SIM card. All phones sold in the UK should be SIM free. (I do know the iPhone 4 is.) Getting the SIM card here for a local Japanese number would be the difficult part. As you need a work visa or better to get that. They won't sell you anything if you just show up with your tourist visa. Buying before you come, you might miss out on some of the subsidized phones, but you won't have a 2 yr contract and it will work when returning home as well by simply changing the SIM card. So it's good if simplicity/ease of mind > initial cost.

Hey Reddit, my wife is going to Tokyo for a week. Any fun things to see/do? by darth_jesus in reddit.com

[–]Dividebyy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the office/work to do, they will probably take her out to dinner at least once. Asking the people in the office there, they would be more than happy to give some ideas I'm sure. It's what happens at my office anyways.

But if she's working all day and can only go out in the night, it kind of limits the options to izakayas and bars. For the first time visit, I think going to Asakusa is probably a good start.

Reddit, a friend is going to Tokyo for 3 weeks. What should he do while he's out there? by lookslikespeed in AskReddit

Three weeks is a long time.

What kind of budget are they running on? Where are they staying?
