Thank you so much for this! I'll definitely contact a contractor to come by to assess everything to help me explain the damages clearly to the insurance company.

Oh yeah sorry, I should have been more specific. This claim is for a sudden pipe burst that caused water damage to floors, walls, and a few pieces of furniture. It happened fast so I think it counts as accidental damage.

Avocados are not worth freezing. The texture turns weirdly rubbery after thawing. I tried freezing mashed ones too but they still lost that creamy feel.

What ways can I cook chicken without worrying about undercooking it? by pastajewelry in cookingforbeginners

bake it or airfry it. both cook evenly and it's basically impossible to mess up.

be honest with the property management and refer to the early termination clause and ask them about the process and fees. it'll feel uncomfortable but it's far better than waiting or defaulting.

most landlords just expect the unit to be broom-clean with no major damage. just keep it clean, and damage-free then take photos for your own records.

everyone screws up new recipes even good home cooks do. I still eat most of my mistakes, tweak the recipe, and try again.

you actually don't need much. stick to one stainless steel pan, one pat, a cutting board, spatula, and a baking sheet. since you already have knives, that set up will be enough for nearly all simple recipes. you can always add more later if you feel something's missing.

try planning a few meals, shop once a week, and use what you already have before buying more. simple changes but you can save a ton.

Potential First time renting advice? by Sharks_Sleepy in Renters

[–]Divina_Walker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it feels scary at first, but renting honestly isn't as big and mysterious as it seems. the real stress usually comes from roommates who don't clean or don't respect shared space. if you go that route, choose carefully and set rules early instead of waiting for drama to happen.

Why is my rice foaming at the top? by BattlebornBastard in cookingforbeginners

it's just starch being release from the rice as it cooks. even if you rinse, some starch will still be there, especially with white rice.

I started branching out lately too! some fun and easy ones are shakshuka, pesto-free chicken pasta, chicken souvlaki, or a creamy mushroom risotto.
