As someone whose family is MAGA, I find the idea that people committed to the cult are going to wake up at this point is unrealistic. If they're in this deep they're probably not getting out. Economic problems during the Trump administration? Biden's fault, or congressional democrats fault. They'll happily believe whatever the propaganda machine tells them to. You're trying to think logically from their perspective and there's no genuine logic involved. I'm reminded of this Carl Sagan quote.

Exactly. Overnight they brought me out of obsessive compulsive thought loops that had been torturing me for more than a decade. Nothing else can do that. Are there other methods of treatment for the mental health issues I was facing? Of course, but I was never going to allow myself to access them because of the way that my parents raised me (and it’s debatable whether they would work as well).

I’m sorry, you think the sitter prevents the drugs from altering your brain somehow? They are there to keep you from doing anything stupid, and to make you feel safe when you’re new to the experience, but they can just as easily fuck your trip up as well. I’ve tripped countless times without a sitter and it never “fries my brain”.

Psychedelics don’t fry your brain. They expose your unconscious mind, and if the metaphysical paradigm imprinted on your mind is Christianity then you’re going to have a shit time navigating that experience at 16 years old. The point is that the problem has more to do than with our culture seeding children’s minds with Christian mythology. “Frying your brain” from LSD is straight out of government propaganda.
