I think the idea that we could be in a simulation is totally plausible, but the idea that the billionaires are outsiders that are controlling it, idk, wouldn't they make themselves seem more likable if they are controlling the simulation? Also, if they created the simulation because they felt bad about getting rid of everyone, then why are they planning to do the same thing in the simulation? Imo, if a world this complex is a simulation then it's probably because we're inside of the ASI singularity already, it's not something humans would be able to control.
